¹² And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?

^5 (A)Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but ^(B)our sufficiency is from God,

²⁷ John answered, ^(A)“A person cannot receive even one thing ^(B)unless it is given him ^(C)from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ^(D)‘I am not the Christ, but ^(E)I have been sent before him.’

¹¹ And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, ^(A)“The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” ¹² Barnabas they called ^(B)Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. ¹³ And the priest of ^(C)Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and ^(D)wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds. ¹⁴ But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they ^(E)tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out, ¹⁵ “Men, ^(F)why are you doing these things? We also are men, ^(G)of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that ^(H)you should turn from these ^(I)vain things to ^(J)a living God, ^(K)who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

²⁸ but ^(A)there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar ^(B)what will be in the latter days. Your dream and ^(C)the visions of your head as you lay in bed are these: ²⁹ To you, O king, as you lay in bed came thoughts of what would be after this, ^(D)and he who reveals mysteries made known to you what is to be. ³⁰ But ^(E)as for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have more than all the living, but in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that ^(F)you may know the thoughts of your mind.

¹⁶ Joseph answered Pharaoh, ^(A)“It is not in me; ^(B)God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”^[a]

⁴ They are ^(A)Israelites, and to them belong ^(B)the adoption, ^(C)the glory, ^(D)the covenants, ^(E)the giving of the law, ^(F)the worship, and ^(G)the promises.

²⁵ When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and ^(A)fell down at his feet and ^(B)worshiped him. ²⁶ But Peter lifted him up, saying, ^(C)“Stand up; I too am a man.”
