² And he said to them, ^(A)“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, ^(B)we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

¹⁹ Or ^(A)do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? ^(B)You are not your own,

³⁹ Now ^(A)this he said about the Spirit, ^(B)whom those who believed in him were to receive, ^(C)for as yet the Spirit had not been ^(D)given, ^(E)because Jesus was not yet glorified.

⁵ Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and ^(A)works miracles among you do so ^(B)by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—

⁵ On hearing this, ^(A)they were baptized in^[a] the name of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁵ As I began to speak, ^(A)the Holy Spirit fell on them ^(B)just as on us at the beginning. ¹⁶ And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ^(C)‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ ¹⁷ If then ^(D)God gave ^(E)the same gift to them as he gave to us ^(F)when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, ^(G)who was I ^(H)that I could stand in God's way?”

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles

⁴⁴ While Peter was still saying these things, ^(A)the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.

³⁸ And Peter said to them, ^(A)“Repent and ^(B)be baptized every one of you ^(C)in the name of Jesus Christ ^(D)for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive ^(E)the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(F)the promise is for you and ^(G)for your children and for all ^(H)who are far off, everyone ^(I)whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
