²⁵ But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

^16 (A)Rejoice always, ^17 (B)pray without ceasing, ¹⁸ in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Profiting from Trials

² My brethren, ^(A)count it all joy ^(B)when you fall into various trials,

^6 (A)In this you greatly rejoice, though now ^(B)for a little while, if need be, ^(C)you have been ^[a]grieved by various trials, ⁷ that ^(D)the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though ^(E)it is tested by fire, ^(F)may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, ^8 (G)whom having not ^[b]seen you love. ^(H)Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

³ And not only that, but ^(A)we also glory in tribulations, ^(B)knowing that tribulation produces ^[a]perseverance;

^4 (A)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

⁵ Let your ^[a]gentleness be known to all men. ^(B)The Lord is at hand.

^6 (C)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with ^(D)thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; ⁷ and ^(E)the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

⁷ who, in the days of His flesh, when He had ^(A)offered up prayers and supplications, ^(B)with vehement cries and tears to Him ^(C)who was able to save Him from death, and was heard ^(D)because of His godly fear,
