³⁹ And ^(A)we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. ^(B)They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, ⁴⁰ but ^(C)God raised him on ^(D)the third day and made him to ^(E)appear,

²⁹ And when ^(A)they had carried out all that was written of him, ^(B)they took him down from ^(C)the tree and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But ^(D)God raised him from the dead, ³¹ and for many days ^(E)he appeared to those ^(F)who had come up with him ^(G)from Galilee to Jerusalem, ^(H)who are now ^(I)his witnesses to the people.

⁸ but ^(A)God shows his love for us in that ^(B)while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

³ In the same way we also, when we were children, ^(A)were enslaved to the elementary principles^[a] of the world. ⁴ But ^(B)when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, ^(C)born ^(D)of woman, born ^(E)under the law, ^5 (F)to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive ^(G)adoption as sons. ⁶ And because you are sons, God has sent ^(H)the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” ⁷ So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then ^(I)an heir through God.
