³⁰ And Cornelius said, ^(A)“Four days ago, about this hour, I was praying in my house at ^(B)the ninth hour,^[a] and behold, ^(C)a man stood before me in bright clothing

^3 (A)About the ninth hour of the day^{[a] (B)}he saw clearly in a vision ^(C)an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.”

Gabriel Brings an Answer

^20 (A)While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for ^(B)the holy hill of my God, ²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man ^(C)Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, ^(D)came to me in swift flight at ^(E)the time of the evening sacrifice.

²³ So he invited them in to be his guests.

The next day he rose and went away with them, and ^(A)some of ^(B)the brothers from Joppa accompanied him. ²⁴ And on the following day they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

¹⁰ And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, ^(A)two ^(B)men stood by them in ^(C)white robes,

The People of Israel Confess Their Sin

9 Now on the twenty-fourth day of ^(A)this month the people of Israel were assembled ^(B)with fasting ^(C)and in sackcloth, ^(D)and with earth on their heads. ^2 (E)And the Israelites^[a] separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. ^3 (F)And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day; for another quarter of it they made confession and worshiped the Lord their God.

⁴ Then all who ^(A)trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the faithlessness of the returned exiles, gathered around me while I sat ^(B)appalled until the evening sacrifice. ⁵ And at the ^(C)evening sacrifice I rose from my fasting, with my garment ^(D)and my cloak torn, and fell upon my knees ^(E)and spread out my hands to the Lord my God,

⁷ When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him, ⁸ and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

Peter's Vision

⁹ The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, ^(A)Peter went up ^(B)on the housetop about ^(C)the sixth hour^[a] to pray.

The Lame Beggar Healed

3 Now Peter and John were ^(A)going up to the temple at ^(B)the hour of prayer, ^(C)the ninth hour.^[a]
