Choosing of the Seven

6 Now ^[a]at this time while the ^(A)disciples were ^(B)increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the ^[b](C)Hellenistic Jews against the native ^(D)Hebrews, because their ^(E)widows were being overlooked in ^(F)the daily serving of food.

³⁹ So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the ^(A)upper room; and all the ^(B)widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the ^[a]tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling ^(A)the ^[a]saints and ^(B)widows, he presented her alive.

⁵ Now she who is a ^(A)widow indeed and who has been left alone, ^(B)has fixed her hope on God and continues in ^(C)entreaties and prayers night and day.

¹⁶ If any woman who is a believer ^(A)has dependent widows, she must ^(B)assist them and the church must not be burdened, so that it may assist those who are ^(C)widows indeed.
