26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having purified himself, he entered the temple with them, making public the completion of the days of purification when the sacrifice would be made for each of them.
Paul Arrested in the Temple
27 When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, who had seen him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd. They seized him, 28 shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against our people, our law, and this place; more than that, he has actually brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.” 29 For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. 30 Then all the city was aroused, and the people rushed together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. 31 While they were trying to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. 32 Immediately he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. When they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

Ils ameutèrent toute la foule et se jetèrent sur lui 28 en criant : Israélites ! Au secours ! Le voilà, celui qui ne cesse de prêcher partout et à tout le monde contre notre peuple, contre la Loi de Moïse et contre ce temple ! Et même, à présent, il a introduit des non-Juifs dans l’enceinte sacrée ; il a souillé ce saint lieu !
29 Ils disaient cela parce qu’ils avaient vu Trophime[a] d’Ephèse en ville avec lui, et ils s’imaginaient que Paul l’avait fait entrer dans la cour intérieure du Temple.
30 L’agitation gagna la ville tout entière et le peuple accourut en foule de toutes parts. 26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having purified himself, he entered the temple with them, making public the completion of the days of purification when the sacrifice would be made for each of them.
Paul Arrested in the Temple
27 When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, who had seen him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd. They seized him, 28 shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against our people, our law, and this place; more than that, he has actually brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.” 29 For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. 30 Then all the city was aroused, and the people rushed together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. 31 While they were trying to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. 32 Immediately he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. When they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

27 (A)Quando i sette giorni stavano per compiersi, i Giudei dell’Asia, vedendolo nel tempio, aizzarono tutta la folla e gli misero le mani addosso, gridando: 28 «Israeliti[a], venite in aiuto: questo è l’uomo che va predicando a tutti e dappertutto contro il popolo, contro la legge e contro questo luogo; e, oltre a ciò, ha condotto anche dei Greci nel tempio e ha profanato questo santo luogo». 29 Infatti, prima[b] avevano veduto Trofimo di Efeso in città con Paolo, e pensavano che egli lo avesse condotto nel tempio.
30 Tutta la città fu in agitazione e si fece un assembramento di gente; afferrato Paolo, lo trascinarono fuori dal tempio, e subito le porte furono chiuse. 31 Mentre cercavano di ucciderlo, fu riferito al tribuno della coorte che tutta Gerusalemme era in subbuglio. 32 Ed egli, presi immediatamente dei soldati e dei centurioni, si precipitò verso i Giudei, i quali, vedendo il tribuno e i soldati, cessarono di battere Paolo.
