⁴ And they were all ^(A)filled with the Holy Spirit and began to ^(B)speak with other ^[a]tongues, as the Spirit was giving them ^[b]utterance.

⁴⁶ For they were hearing them ^(A)speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

⁶ And when Paul had ^(A)laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began ^(B)speaking with tongues and ^(C)prophesying.

¹⁰ and to another the workings of ^(A)miracles, and to another ^(B)prophecy, and to another the ^[a](C)distinguishing of spirits, to someone else various ^(D)kinds of tongues, and to another the ^[b](E)translation of tongues.

²⁸ And God has ^[a](A)appointed in ^(B)the church, first ^(C)apostles, second ^(D)prophets, third ^(E)teachers, then ^[b](F)miracles, then ^(G)gifts of healings, helps, ^(H)administrations, various ^(I)kinds of tongues.

³⁰ Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all ^[a](A)translate?

The Excellence of Love

13 If I speak with the ^(A)tongues of men and of ^(B)angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a ^(C)clanging cymbal.

² For one who ^(A)speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one ^[a]understands, but ^[b]in his spirit he speaks ^(B)mysteries.
