2 (A)Kale bwe wabaawo okubazaamu endasi kwonna mu Kristo, oba okusanyusa kwonna okw’okwagala, oba okussa ekimu mu mwoyo, oba okwagala okw’engeri yonna, oba okusaasira, 2 (B)mutuukirize essanyu lyange, mulowoozenga bumu, nga mulina okwagala, n’omwoyo gumu, nga mulowooza bumu, 3 (C)nga temukola kintu na kimu olw’okuvuganya wadde okwewaana okutaliimu, wabula mu bwetoowaze nga buli muntu agulumiza munne okusinga bwe mwegulumiza mwekka, 4 nga buli muntu tatunuulira bibye yekka, naye ng’afaayo ne ku by’abalala.
5 (D)Mubengamu endowooza eri eyali mu Kristo Yesu,
6 (E)ye newaakubadde nga yali mu kifaananyi kya Katonda,
Teyeerowooza kwenkanankana ne Katonda,
7 (F)wabula yeewaayo n’afuuka ng’omuddu,
era n’azaalibwa ng’omuntu,
era n’alabikira mu kifaananyi ky’omuntu,
8 (G)ne yeetoowaza,
n’aba muwulize n’okutuukira ddala ku kufa,
ate okufa okw’okukomererwa ku musaalaba.
9 (H)Katonda kyeyava amugulumiza,
n’amuwa erinnya erisinga amannya gonna;
10 (I)buli vviivi ery’abo abali mu ggulu n’abali ku nsi,
era n’abali wansi w’ensi liryoke lifukaamirirenga erinnya lya Yesu,
11 (J)era buli lulimi lwatulenga nga Yesu Kristo ye Mukama,
Katonda Kitaffe aweebwe ekitiibwa.

14 (M)Buli kye mukola mukikolenga awatali kwemulugunya wadde empaka, 15 (N)mulyoke mube nga temuliiko kyakunenyezebwa nga muli balongoofu, mube abaana ba Katonda abatalina bbala, wakati mu mulembe ogwakyama era omwonoonefu, mwe mubeere ekyokulabirako eky’amaanyi mu nsi, 16 (O)nga munyweza ekigambo ky’obulamu gye bali, ndyoke mbeere n’eky’okwenyumiriza ku lunaku lwa Kristo, okulaga nti ssaddukira bwereere so ssaateganira busa. 17 (P)Naye singa ddala nfukibwa ng’ekiweebwayo ekyokunywa ku ssaddaaka ne ku kuweereza okw’obwakabona okw’okukkiriza kwammwe, nsanyukira wamu nammwe mwenna. 18 Era nammwe musanyukire wamu nange.

25 (W)Era ndabye nga kisaanye okubatumira owooluganda Epafuladito mukozi munnange, era mulwanyi munnange, naye ate nga mutume wammwe, omuweereza ow’eby’obwakabona ow’eby’etaago byange, 26 (X)ayagala ennyo okubalaba, mwenna, eyeeraliikirira ennyo olw’obutabalaba, kubanga mwawulira nga yalwala. 27 Ddala yalwala era yali kumpi n’okufa. Kyokka Katonda yamusaasira, naye era teyasaasira ye yekka, wabula nange yansaasira ennaku n’eteenneeyongera. 28 Noolwekyo nayagala nnyo okumutuma gye muli mulyoke musanyuke okumulaba nate, ekyo kikendeeze ku nnaku gye nnina. 29 (Y)Kale mumwanirize nnyo n’essanyu lyonna mu Mukama waffe, era abantu abali ng’oyo mubassangamu ekitiibwa, 30 (Z)kubanga yabulako katono okufa ng’ali ku mulimu gwa Kristo, ng’akola ebyo bye mwandinkoledde singa mwali nange.

Christ's Example of Humility
2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from (A)love, any (B)participation in the Spirit, any (C)affection and sympathy, 2 (D)complete my joy by being (E)of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from (F)selfish ambition or (G)conceit, but in (H)humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you (I)look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 (J)Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 (K)who, though he was in (L)the form of God, did not count equality with God (M)a thing to be grasped,[b] 7 but (N)emptied himself, by taking the form of a (O)servant,[c] (P)being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by (Q)becoming obedient to the point of death, (R)even death on a cross. 9 (S)Therefore (T)God has (U)highly exalted him and bestowed on him (V)the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus (W)every knee should bow, (X)in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and (Y)every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is (Z)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Therefore, my beloved, (AA)as you have always (AB)obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for (AC)it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for (AD)his good pleasure.

Timothy and Epaphroditus
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus (AR)to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. 20 For I have no one (AS)like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. 21 For they all (AT)seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know Timothy's[d] (AU)proven worth, how (AV)as a son[e] with a father (AW)he has served with me in the gospel. 23 I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, 24 and (AX)I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also.
25 I have thought it necessary to send to you (AY)Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and (AZ)fellow soldier, and your messenger and (BA)minister to my need, 26 for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. 29 So (BB)receive him in the Lord with all joy, and (BC)honor such men, 30 for he nearly died[f] (BD)for the work of Christ, risking his life (BE)to complete what was lacking in your service to me.

2 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

True Humility
2 Christ encourages you, and his love comforts you. God's Spirit unites you, and you are concerned for others. 2 Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person. 3 Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves 5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:[a]
6 Christ was truly God.
But he did not try to remain[b]
equal with God.
7 Instead he gave up everything[c]
and became a slave,
when he became
like one of us.
8 Christ was humble.
He obeyed God and even died
on a cross.
9 Then God gave Christ
the highest place
and honored his name
above all others.
10 (A) So at the name of Jesus
everyone will bow down,
those in heaven, on earth,
and under the earth.
11 And to the glory
of God the Father
everyone will openly agree,
“Jesus Christ is Lord!”
Lights in the World
12 My dear friends, you always obeyed when I was with you. Now that I am away, you should obey even more. So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved. 13 God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 15 (B) Then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world, 16 as you hold firmly to[d] the message that gives life. Then on the day when Christ returns, I can take pride in you. I can also know that my work and efforts were not useless.
17 Your faith in the Lord and your service are like a sacrifice offered to him. And my own blood may have to be poured out with the sacrifice.[e] If this happens, I will be glad and rejoice with you. 18 In the same way, you should be glad and rejoice with me.
Timothy and Epaphroditus
19 I want to be encouraged by news about you. So I hope the Lord Jesus will soon let me send Timothy to you. 20 I don't have anyone else who cares about you as much as he does. 21 The others think only about what interests them and not about what concerns Christ Jesus. 22 But you know what kind of person Timothy is. He has worked with me like a son in spreading the good news. 23 I hope to send him to you, as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me. 24 And I feel sure the Lord will also let me come soon.
25 I think I ought to send my dear friend Epaphroditus back to you. He is a follower and a worker and a soldier of the Lord, just as I am. You sent him to look after me, 26 but now he is eager to see you. He is worried, because you heard he was sick. 27 In fact, he was very sick and almost died. But God was kind to him, and also to me, and he kept me from being burdened down with sorrow.
28 Now I am more eager than ever to send Epaphroditus back again. You will be glad to see him, and I won't have to worry any longer. 29 Be sure to give him a cheerful welcome, just as people who serve the Lord deserve. 30 He almost died working for Christ, and he risked his own life to do for me what you could not.
