33 Här är de sträckor Israels folk vandrade från den stund då Mose och Aron ledde dem ut ur Egypten i ordnade härskaror. Herrens befallning skrev Mose ner varje uppbrott från en lägerplats till en annan, så som de vandrade sträcka för sträcka:

De startade från Ramses i den första månaden, dagen efter påskhögtiden. De drog frimodigt iväg och helt öppet inför egypterna, medan dessa höll på att begrava sina förstfödda som Herren hade dödat. Då dömde Herren alla deras gudar.

Sedan de lämnat Ramses slog de läger i Suckot.

Nästa lägerplats efter uppbrottet från Suckot var Etam där öknen började.

De lämnade Etam och vände tillbaka till Pi Hachirot öster om Baal Sefon där de slog läger nära Migdol.

Därifrån fortsatte de genom Sävhavet och vidare tre dagar ut i Etams öken och slog läger i Mara.

De lämnade Mara och kom till Elim där det fanns tolv källor med vatten och sjuttio palmer och slog läger där.

10 När de bröt upp från Elim, drog de vidare för att så småningom slå läger vid Sävhavet.

11 Nästa lägerplats efter Sävhavet blev i öknen Sin.

12 Därefter slog de läger i Dofka 13 och fortsatte sedan från Dofka till Alush och slog läger där.

14 Från Alush drog de vidare till Refidim och slog läger, men där fanns det inte något vatten för folket att dricka.

15 Från Refidim gick färden till Sinais öken som var nästa lägerplats 16 och sedan drog de vidare till nästa i Kivrot Hattaava.

17 Från Kivrot Hattaava färdades de till Haserot och slog läger där, sedan till lägerplatser enligt följande:

18 från Haserot till Ritma,

19 från Ritma till Rimmon Peres,

20 från Rimmon Peres till Livna,

21 från Livna till Rissa,

22 från Rissa till Kehelata,

23 från Kehelata till berget Shefer,

24 från berget Shefer till Harada,

25 från Harada till Makhelot,

26 från Makhelot till Tachat,

27 från Tachat till Terach,

28 från Terach till Mitka,

29 från Mitka till Hashmona,

30 från Hashmona till Moserot,

31 från Moserot till Bene Jaakan,

32 från Bene Jaakan till Hor Haggidgad,

33 från Hor Haggidgad till Jotvata,

34 från Jotvata till Avrona,

35 från Avrona till Esjon-Gever, 36 därifrån till Sinöknen där de slog läger vid Kadesh och

37 från Kadesh till berget Hor, på gränsen till Edoms land, där de också slog läger som de gjort på de tidigare ställena.

38 Vid berget Hor gick prästen Aron på Herrens befallning upp på berget och däruppe dog han. Detta skedde under det fyrtionde året efter det att Israels folk hade lämnat Egypten, den första dagen i den femte månaden. 39 Aron var 123 år gammal när han dog på berget Hor. 40 Det var då som den kanaaneiske kungen i Arad som bodde i Negev i Kanaans land, fick höra att Israels folk närmade sig.

41 De bröt upp från berget Hor och slog läger vid Salmona, 42 sedan i Punon 43 och därefter i Ovot 44 och i Ije Haavarim vid Moabs gräns.

45 Därifrån gick de till Divon Gad, 46 vidare till Almon Divlatajma 47 och därifrån till Avarimbergen framför Nebo och slog läger på alla dessa platser.

48 Efter att ha brutit upp från Avarimbergen, slog de läger på Moabs hedar vid floden Jordan mitt emot Jeriko.

49 Deras läger sträckte sig från Bet Hajshimot ända till Avel Hashittim på Moabs hedar.

50 Herren talade till Mose på Moabs hedar vid Jordan mitt emot Jeriko:

51 ”Tala till israeliterna: ’När ni går över floden Jordan in i Kanaans land 52 ska ni fördriva alla folk som bor där, förstöra deras avgudar och gjutna beläten och ödelägga deras offerplatser. 53 Ta landet i besittning och bosätt er där, för det har jag gett er. 54 Dela landområdena genom lottkastning i förhållande till stammarnas storlek. Ge de större områdena av landet till de större stammarna och de mindre områdena till de mindre stammarna. Det som lotten ger ska bli vars och ens del. Gör fördelningen efter era fädernestammar. 55 Men om ni inte fördriver folket som bor där, kommer de att bli som törne i era ögon och taggar i era kroppar. De ska tränga er i landet där ni bor. 56 Och då kommer jag att göra med er så som jag har planerat att göra med dem.’ ”

33 These are the journeys of the Bnei Yisroel, which went forth out of Eretz Mitzrayim by their tzveos under yad Moshe and Aharon.

And Moshe recorded their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of Hashem; and these are their journeys according to their goings forth.

And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the day after the Pesach the Bnei Yisroel went out with a yad ramah (upraised hand, i.e., confidently) l’einei kol Mitzrayim.

For the Mitzrayim buried all their bechor, which Hashem had struck down among them; upon their elohim also Hashem executed shefatim.

And the Bnei Yisroel set out from Rameses, and encamped in Sukkot.

And they set out from Sukkot, and encamped in Etam, which is on the edge of the midbar.

And they set out from Etam, and turned back unto Pi HaChirot, which is before Ba’al Tzephon; and they encamped before Migdol.

And they set out from before HaChirot, and passed through the midst of the yam into the midbar, and went derech shloshet yamim (a three days’ journey) in the midbar of Etam, and encamped in Marah.

And they set out from Marah, and came unto Elim; and in Elim were twelve einot mayim (springs of water), and threescore and ten temarim (palm trees); and they encamped there.

10 And they set out from Elim, and encamped by the Yam Suf.

11 And they set out from the Yam Suf, encamping in the Midbar Sin.

12 And they set out from the Midbar Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

13 And they set out from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.

14 And they set out from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no mayim for HaAm to drink.

15 And they set out from Rephidim, and encamped in the Midbar Sinai.

16 And they set out from the Midbar Sinai, and encamped at Kivrot Hata’avah.

17 And they set out from Kivrot Hata’avah, and encamped at Chatzerot.

18 And they set out from Chatzerot, and encamped in Ritmah.

19 And they set out from Ritmah, and encamped at Rimmon Peretz.

33 And they set out from Chor Haggidgad, and encamped in Yotvatah.

34 And they set out from Yotvatah, and encamped at Avronah.

35 And they set out from Avronah, and encamped at Etzyon Gever.

36 And they set out from Etzyon-Gever, and encamped in the Midbar Tzin, which is Kadesh.

37 And they set out from Kadesh and encamped at Mt Hor, at the border of Eretz Edom.

38 And Aharon HaKohen went up into Mt Hor at the command of Hashem, and died there, in the 40th year after the Bnei Yisroel were come out of Eretz Mitzrayim, in the first yom of the fifth month.

39 And Aharon was a hundred and twenty and three years old when he died on Mt Hor.

40 And Melech Arad the Kena’anite, which dwelt in the Negev in Eretz Kena’an, heard of the coming of the Bnei Yisroel.

41 And they set out from Mt Hor, and encamped in Tzalmonah.

42 And they set out from Tzalmonah, and encamped in Punon.

43 And they set out from Punon, and encamped in Ovot.

44 And they set out from Ovot, and encamped in Iyei HaAvarim at border of Moav.

45 And they set out from Iyim, and encamped in Divon Gad.

46 And they set out from Divon Gad, and encamped in Almon Divlatayim.

47 And they set out from Almon Divlatayim, and encamped in the mountains of Avarim, before Nevo.

48 And they set out from the mountains of Avarim, and encamped in the plains of Moav by Yarden near Yericho.

49 And they set out by Yarden, from Beit HaYeshimot even unto Abel Sheetim in the plains of Moav.

50 And Hashem spoke unto Moshe in the plains of Moav by Yarden near Yericho, saying,

51 Speak unto the Bnei Yisroel, and say unto them, When ye are crossing over Yarden into Eretz Kena’an,

52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of HaAretz from before you, and destroy all their maskiyyot (stone carved statues), and destroy all their tzalmei massekhot and demolish all their [idolatrous] high places;

53 And ye shall take possession of HaAretz, and dwell therein; for I have given you HaAretz to possess it.

54 And ye shall distribute HaAretz by goral for an inheritance among your mishpekhot; and to the more numerous ye shall give the larger nachalah, and to the fewer in number ye shall give the smaller nachalah; every man’s nachalah shall be in the place where his goral falleth; according to the mattot (tribes of) Avoteichem ye shall inherit.

55 But if ye will not drive out the yoshvei HaAretz from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be barbs in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall harrass you in HaAretz wherein ye dwell.

56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I meant to do unto them.

Stages in Israel’s Journey

33 Here are the stages in the journey(A) of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt(B) by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.(C) At the Lord’s command Moses recorded(D) the stages in their journey(E). This is their journey by stages:

The Israelites set out(F) from Rameses(G) on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover.(H) They marched out defiantly(I) in full view of all the Egyptians, who were burying all their firstborn,(J) whom the Lord had struck down among them; for the Lord had brought judgment(K) on their gods.(L)

The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Sukkoth.(M)

They left Sukkoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.(N)

They left Etham, turned back to Pi Hahiroth, to the east of Baal Zephon,(O) and camped near Migdol.(P)

They left Pi Hahiroth[a](Q) and passed through the sea(R) into the desert, and when they had traveled for three days in the Desert of Etham, they camped at Marah.(S)

They left Marah and went to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped(T) there.

10 They left Elim(U) and camped by the Red Sea.[b]

11 They left the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.(V)

12 They left the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.

13 They left Dophkah and camped at Alush.

14 They left Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.(W)

40 The Canaanite king(AM) of Arad,(AN) who lived in the Negev(AO) of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.

41 They left Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

42 They left Zalmonah and camped at Punon.

43 They left Punon and camped at Oboth.(AP)

44 They left Oboth and camped at Iye Abarim, on the border of Moab.(AQ)

45 They left Iye Abarim and camped at Dibon Gad.

46 They left Dibon Gad and camped at Almon Diblathaim.

47 They left Almon Diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim,(AR) near Nebo.(AS)

48 They left the mountains of Abarim(AT) and camped on the plains of Moab(AU) by the Jordan(AV) across from Jericho.(AW) 49 There on the plains of Moab they camped along the Jordan from Beth Jeshimoth(AX) to Abel Shittim.(AY)

50 On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho(AZ) the Lord said to Moses, 51 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you cross the Jordan into Canaan,(BA) 52 drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places.(BB) 53 Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.(BC) 54 Distribute the land by lot,(BD) according to your clans.(BE) To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one.(BF) Whatever falls to them by lot will be theirs. Distribute it according to your ancestral tribes.(BG)

55 “‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns(BH) in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live. 56 And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.(BI)’”
