The Man of Lawlessness

2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ^(A) and our being gathered to him,^(B) we ask you, brothers and sisters,

²⁷ And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.^(A)

¹⁴ For we believe that Jesus died and rose again,^(A) and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.^{(B) 15} According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord,^(C) will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.^{(D) 16} For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,^(E) with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel^(F) and with the trumpet call of God,^(G) and the dead in Christ will rise first.^{(H) 17} After that, we who are still alive and are left^(I) will be caught up together with them in the clouds^(J) to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord^(K) forever.

³¹ And he will send his angels^(A) with a loud trumpet call,^(B) and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

¹³ May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless^(A) and holy in the presence of our God and Father^(B) when our Lord Jesus comes^(C) with all his holy ones.^(D)

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,^(A) and in view of his appearing^(B) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:^(C)

¹⁹ For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown^(A) in which we will glory^(B) in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes?^(C) Is it not you?

³² All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate^(A) the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.^(B)

¹⁰ to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment^(A)—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.^(B)
