9 And David saith, `Is there yet any left to the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?'
2 And the house of Saul hath a servant, and his name [is] Ziba, and they call for him unto David; and the king saith unto him, `Art thou Ziba?' and he saith, `Thy servant.'
3 And the king saith, `Is there not yet a man to the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of God?' And Ziba saith unto the king, `Jonathan hath yet a son -- lame.'
4 And the king saith to him, `Where [is] he?' and Ziba saith unto the king, `Lo, he [is] in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lo-Debar.'
5 And king David sendeth, and taketh him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Lo-Debar,
6 and Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, cometh unto David, and falleth on his face, and doth obeisance, and David saith, `Mephibosheth;' and he saith, `Lo, thy servant.'
7 And David saith to him, `Be not afraid; for I certainly do with thee kindness because of Jonathan thy father, and have given back to thee all the field of Saul thy father, and thou dost eat bread at my table continually.'
8 And he boweth himself, and saith, `What [is] thy servant, that thou hast turned unto the dead dog -- such as I?'
9 And the king calleth unto Ziba servant of Saul, and saith unto him, `All that was to Saul and to all his house, I have given to the son of thy lord,
10 and thou hast served for him the land, thou and thy sons, and thy servants, and hast brought in, and there hath been to the son of thy lord bread, and he hath eaten it; and Mephibosheth son of thy lord doth eat continually bread at my table;' and Ziba hath fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 And Ziba saith unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so doth thy servant;' as to Mephibosheth, `he is eating at my table ([saith the king]) as one of the sons of the king.'
12 And Mephibosheth hath a young son, and his name [is] Micha, and every one dwelling in the house of Ziba [are] servants to Mephibosheth.
13 And Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for at the table of the king he is eating continually, and he [is] lame of his two feet.

David and Mephibosheth
9 David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”(A)
2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba.(B) They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
3 The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan;(C) he is lame(D) in both feet.”
4 “Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir(E) son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(F)
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(G) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(H)”
8 Mephibosheth(I) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog(J) like me?”
9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson(K) may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s[a] table like one of the king’s sons.(L)
12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.(M) 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.

9 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may (A)show him [a]kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was (B)Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show (C)the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is (D)lame in his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of (E)Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when (F)Mephibosheth[b] the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
8 Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such (G)a dead dog as I?”
9 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, (H)“I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. 10 You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son (I)shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had (J)fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
“As for Mephibosheth,” said the king, “he shall eat at [c]my table like one of the king’s sons.” 12 Mephibosheth had a young son (K)whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, (L)for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he (M)was lame in both his feet.

9 Isang araw, nagtanong si David, “May natitira pa ba sa sambahayan ni Saul na maaari kong pakitaan ng kabutihan alang-alang kay Jonatan?” 2 Ipinatawag ni David ang isang tao na nagngangalang Ziba, isang utusan mula sa sambahayan ni Saul. Pagdating niya, tinanong siya ni David, “Ikaw ba si Ziba?” Sumagot siya, “Ako nga po.” 3 Muling nagtanong ang hari, “May natitira pa ba sa sambahayan ni Saul na maaari kong pakitaan ng kabutihan ng Dios?” Sumagot siya, “Mayroon po, ang lumpong anak na lalaki ni Jonatan.” 4 “Nasaan siya?” tanong ng hari. Sumagot si Ziba, “Naroon po sa Lo Debar, sa bahay ni Makir na anak ni Amiel.” 5 Kaya ipinasundo siya ni David mula sa bahay ni Makir.
6 Ang pangalan ng anak ni Jonatan ay Mefiboset at apo siya ni Saul. Pagdating niya kay David, yumukod siya bilang paggalang dito. Sinabi ni David sa kanya, “Ikaw pala si Mefiboset.” Sumagot siya, “Ako nga po.” 7 Sinabi ni David sa kanya, “Huwag kang matakot. Ipinatawag kita dahil gusto kitang pakitaan ng kabutihan dahil sa iyong amang si Jonatan. Ibabalik ko sa iyo ang lahat ng lupain ng iyong lolong si Saul, at hindi lang iyan, dito ka na palagiang kakain kasama ko.” 8 Yumukod si Mefiboset at sinabi, “Sino po ako para tratuhin nʼyo ako ng ganito? Gaya lang po ako ng isang patay na aso.” 9 Pagkatapos, ipinatawag ng hari si Ziba, ang dating utusan ni Saul at sinabi, “Ibinigay ko na sa apo ng amo mong si Saul ang lahat ng ari-arian ng kanyang lolo. 10 Ikaw, ang mga anak mo, at ang mga utusan mo ang magsasaka ng lupain para sa kanya, at dapat mong dalhin sa kanya ang mga ani para may pagkain ang sambahayan ng amo mo.[a] Pero si Mefiboset naman ay kakaing kasama ko.” (May 15 anak na lalaki at 20 utusan si Ziba.)
11 Sumagot si Ziba sa hari, “Gagawin ko po, Mahal na Hari, ang lahat ng iniutos nʼyo sa akin na inyong lingkod.” Mula noon, palaging kumakain si Mefiboset kasama ni David na parang isa sa mga anak niya. 12 May bata pang anak na lalaki si Mefiboset na nagngangalang Mica. Ang lahat ng miyembro ng pamilya ni Ziba ay naging utusan ni Mefiboset. 13 At si Mefiboset na lumpo ang dalawang paa ay nanirahan sa Jerusalem, at palagi siyang kumakain kasama ni Haring David.
