¹⁴ But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.^(A)

¹¹ “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household^(A) I am going to bring calamity on you.^(B) Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.^(C)

⁸ Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall, Haman was falling on the couch^(A) where Esther was reclining.^(B)

The king exclaimed, “Will he even molest the queen while she is with me in the house?”^(C)

As soon as the word left the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.^(D)

⁵ During the night the men of Gibeah came after me and surrounded the house, intending to kill me.^(A) They raped my concubine, and she died.^(B)

²⁵ But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. ²⁶ Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, ²⁷ for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed,^(A) there was no one to rescue her.
