A sunamita volta para a sua terra
8 E falou Eliseu àquela mulher cujo filho vivificara, dizendo: Levanta-te, e vai-te, tu e a tua família, e peregrina onde puderes peregrinar; porque o Senhor chamou a fome, a qual também virá à terra por sete anos. 2 E levantou-se a mulher e fez conforme a palavra do homem de Deus; porque foi ela com a sua família e peregrinou na terra dos filisteus sete anos. 3 E sucedeu que, ao cabo dos sete anos, a mulher voltou da terra dos filisteus e saiu a clamar ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras.
4 Ora, o rei falava a Geazi, moço do homem de Deus, dizendo: Conta-me, peço-te, todas as grandes obras que Eliseu tem feito. 5 E sucedeu que, contando ele ao rei como vivificara a um morto, eis que a mulher cujo filho vivificara clamou ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras; então, disse Geazi: Ó rei, meu senhor, esta é a mulher, e este o seu filho, a quem Eliseu vivificou. 6 E o rei perguntou à mulher, e ela lho contou; então, o rei lhe deu um eunuco, dizendo: Faze-lhe restituir tudo quanto era seu e todas as rendas das terras, desde o dia em que deixou a terra até agora.
Hazael mata a Ben-Hadade
7 Depois, veio Eliseu a Damasco, estando Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, doente; e lho anunciaram, dizendo: O homem de Deus é chegado aqui. 8 Então, o rei disse a Hazael: Toma um presente na tua mão, e vai a encontrar-te com o homem de Deus, e pergunta por ele ao Senhor, dizendo: Hei de eu sarar desta doença? 9 Foi, pois, Hazael encontrar-se com ele e tomou um presente na sua mão, a saber, de tudo que era bom de Damasco, quarenta camelos carregados; e veio, e se pôs diante dele, e disse: Teu filho Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, me enviou a ti, a dizer: Sararei eu desta doença? 10 E Eliseu lhe disse: Vai e dize-lhe: Certamente, não sararás. Porque o Senhor me tem mostrado que certamente morrerá. 11 E afirmou a sua vista e fitou os olhos nele, até se envergonhar; e chorou o homem de Deus. 12 Então, disse Hazael: Por que chora meu senhor? E ele disse: Porque sei o mal que hás de fazer aos filhos de Israel; porás fogo às suas fortalezas, e os seus jovens matarás à espada, e os seus meninos despedaçarás, e as suas pejadas fenderás. 13 E disse Hazael: Pois que é teu servo, que não é mais do que um cão, para fazer tão grande coisa? E disse Eliseu: O Senhor me tem mostrado que tu hás de ser rei da Síria. 14 Então, partiu de Eliseu e veio a seu senhor, o qual lhe disse: Que te disse Eliseu? E disse ele: Disse-me que certamente sararás. 15 E sucedeu, ao outro dia, que tomou um cobertor, e o molhou na água, e o estendeu sobre o seu rosto, e morreu. E Hazael reinou em seu lugar.
O reinado de Jeorão
16 E, no ano quinto de Jorão, filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, reinando ainda Josafá em Judá, começou a reinar Jeorão, filho de Josafá, rei de Judá. 17 Era ele da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar e oito anos reinou em Jerusalém. 18 E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como também fizeram os da casa de Acabe, porque tinha por mulher a filha de Acabe, e fez o que era mal aos olhos do Senhor. 19 Porém o Senhor não quis destruir a Judá por amor de Davi, seu servo, como lhe tinha dito que lhe daria para sempre uma lâmpada a seus filhos.
20 Nos seus dias, se revoltaram os edomitas contra o mando de Judá e puseram sobre si um rei. 21 Pelo que Jeorão passou a Zair, e todos os carros com ele; e ele se levantou de noite e feriu os edomitas que estavam ao redor dele e os capitães dos carros; e o povo foi para as suas tendas. 22 Todavia, os edomitas ficaram revoltados contra o mando de Judá até ao dia de hoje; então, também se revoltou Libna no mesmo tempo.
23 O mais dos atos de Jeorão e tudo quanto fez, porventura, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos Reis de Judá? 24 E Jeorão dormiu com seus pais e foi sepultado com seus pais na Cidade de Davi; e Acazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
O reinado de Acazias
25 No ano doze de Jorão filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, começou a reinar Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá. 26 Era Acazias de vinte e dois anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou um ano em Jerusalém; e era o nome de sua mãe Atalia, filha de Onri, rei de Israel. 27 E andou no caminho da casa de Acabe e fez mal aos olhos do Senhor, como a casa de Acabe, porque era genro da casa de Acabe. 28 E foi com Jorão, filho de Acabe, a Ramote-Gileade, à peleja contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e os siros feriram Jorão. 29 Então, voltou o rei Jorão para se curar em Jezreel das feridas que os siros lhe fizeram em Ramá, quando pelejou contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e desceu Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá, para ver a Jorão, filho de Acabe, em Jezreel, porquanto estava doente.

The Woman from Shunem Is Given Back Her Land
8 (A) Elisha told the woman whose son he had brought back to life,[a] “The Lord has warned that there will be no food here for seven years. Take your family and go live somewhere else for a while.” 2 The woman did exactly what Elisha had said and went to live in Philistine territory.
She and her family lived there seven years. 3 Then she returned to Israel and immediately begged the king to give back her house and property.
4 Meanwhile, the king was asking Gehazi the servant of Elisha about the amazing things Elisha had been doing. 5 While Gehazi was telling him that Elisha had brought a dead boy back to life, the woman and her son arrived.
“Here's the boy, Your Majesty,” Gehazi said. “And this is his mother.”
6 The king asked the woman to tell her story, and she told him everything that had happened. He then said to one of his officials, “I want you to make sure that this woman gets back everything that belonged to her, including the money her crops have made since the day she left Israel.”
Hazael Kills Benhadad
7 Some time later Elisha went to the capital city of Damascus to visit King Benhadad of Syria, who was sick. And when Benhadad was told he was there, 8 he said to Hazael,[b] “Go meet with Elisha the man of God and get him to ask the Lord if I will get well. And take along a gift for him.”
9 Hazael left with forty camel loads of the best things made in Damascus as a gift for Elisha. He found the prophet and said, “Your servant, King Benhadad, wants to know if he will get well.”
10 “Tell him he will,” Elisha said to Hazael. “But the Lord has already told me that Benhadad will definitely die.” 11 Elisha stared at him until Hazael was embarrassed, then Elisha began crying.[c]
12 “Sir, why are you crying?” Hazael asked.
Elisha answered, “Because I know the terrible things you will do to the people of Israel. You will burn down their walled cities and slaughter their young men. You will even crush the heads of their babies and rip open their pregnant women.”
13 (B) “How could I ever do anything like that?” Hazael replied. “I'm only a servant and don't have that kind of power.”
“Hazael, the Lord has told me that you will be the next king of Syria.”
14 Hazael went back to Benhadad and told him, “Elisha said that you will get well.” 15 But the very next day, Hazael got a thick blanket; he soaked it in water and held it over Benhadad's face until he died. Hazael then became king.
King Jehoram of Judah
(2 Chronicles 21.2-20)
16 Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king of Judah in Joram's fifth year as king of Israel, while Jehoshaphat was still king of Judah.[d] 17 Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king, and he ruled 8 years from Jerusalem.
18 Jehoram disobeyed the Lord by doing wrong. He married Ahab's daughter and was as sinful as Ahab's family and the kings of Israel. 19 (C) But the Lord refused to destroy Judah, because he had promised his servant David that someone from his family would always rule in Judah.
20 (D) While Jehoram was king, the people of Edom rebelled and chose their own king. 21 So Jehoram[e] and his cavalry marched to Zair, where the Edomite army surrounded him and his commanders. During the night he attacked the Edomites, but he was defeated, and his troops escaped to their homes.[f] 22 Judah was never able to regain control of Edom. Even the town of Libnah[g] rebelled at that time.
23 Everything else Jehoram did while he was king is written in The History of the Kings of Judah. 24 Jehoram died and was buried beside his ancestors in Jerusalem.[h] His son Ahaziah then became king.
King Ahaziah of Judah
(2 Chronicles 22.1-6)
25 Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah in the twelfth year of Joram's rule in Israel. 26 Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king, and he ruled from Jerusalem for only one year. His mother was Athaliah, a granddaughter of King Omri of Israel. 27 Since Ahaziah was related to Ahab's family,[i] he acted just like them and disobeyed the Lord by doing wrong.
28 Ahaziah went with King Joram of Israel to attack King Hazael and the Syrian troops at Ramoth in Gilead. Joram was wounded in that battle, 29 so he went to the town of Jezreel to recover. Ahaziah went there to visit him.

- 8.22 Even the town of Libnah: This was a town on the border between Philistia and Judah, which means that Jehoram was facing rebellion on two sides of his kingdom.

- 8.27 Since … family: Ahaziah's mother was Ahab's daughter (see verse 18).

8 以利沙曾對他救活的孩子的母親說：「你和你的全家要起身，往你可住的地方去住，因為耶和華已令饑荒降在這地七年。」 2 婦人就起身，照神人的話去做，帶着全家往非利士人的地去，寄居了七年。 3 過了七年，那婦人從非利士人的地回來，就出去為自己的房屋田地哀求王。 4 那時王正與神人的僕人基哈西談話，說：「你把以利沙所做的一切大事告訴我。」 5 基哈西告訴王以利沙如何使死人復活，看哪，以利沙所救活的孩子的母親正為自己的房屋田地來哀求王。基哈西說：「我主我王，這就是那婦人，這是她的兒子，就是以利沙所救活的。」 6 王問那婦人，她就把事情告訴王。於是王為她派一個官員，說：「凡屬這婦人的都還給她，自從她離開本地直到今日，她田地的出產也都還給她。」

7 以利沙來到大馬士革，亞蘭王便‧哈達正患病。有人告訴王說：「神人來到這裏了。」 8 王就吩咐哈薛說：「你帶着禮物去見神人，託他求問耶和華，我這病能不能好？」 9 於是哈薛用四十匹駱駝，馱着大馬士革的各樣美物為禮物，去迎見以利沙。哈薛到了那裏，站在他面前，說：「你兒子亞蘭王便‧哈達派我到你這裏，問說：『我這病會不會好？』」 10 以利沙對哈薛說：「你回去告訴他說：『你一定會好。』但耶和華指示我，他必定會死。」 11 神人定睛看着哈薛，直到他感到羞愧。神人就哭了。 12 哈薛說：「我主為甚麼哭？」他說：「因為我知道你必虐待以色列人，用火焚燒他們的堡壘，用刀殺死他們的壯丁，摔死他們的嬰孩，剖開他們的孕婦。」 13 哈薛說：「僕人算甚麼，不過是一條狗，怎麼能行這大事呢？」以利沙說：「耶和華指示我，你必作亞蘭王。」 14 哈薛離開以利沙，回到他主人那裏。主人對他說：「以利沙對你說了甚麼？」他說：「他告訴我你必能好。」 15 次日，哈薛拿被子浸在水中，蒙住王的臉，王就死了。於是哈薛篡了他的位。
猶大王約蘭(A)
16 亞哈的兒子以色列王約蘭第五年—約沙法曾作猶大王[a]—猶大王約沙法的兒子約蘭登基作了猶大王。 17 約蘭登基的時候年三十二歲，在耶路撒冷作王八年。 18 他行以色列諸王的道，正如亞哈家所行的，因他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。 19 耶和華卻因他僕人大衛的緣故，不肯滅絕猶大，要照他所應許的，永遠賜燈光給大衛和他的子孫。

The Shunammite’s Land Restored
8 Now Elisha had said to the woman(A) whose son he had restored to life, “Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine(B) in the land that will last seven years.”(C) 2 The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to appeal to the king for her house and land. 4 The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, “Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done.” 5 Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored(D) the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to appeal to the king for her house and land.
Gehazi said, “This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” 6 The king asked the woman about it, and she told him.
Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, “Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now.”
Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad
7 Elisha went to Damascus,(E) and Ben-Hadad(F) king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, “The man of God has come all the way up here,” 8 he said to Hazael,(G) “Take a gift(H) with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult(I) the Lord through him; ask him, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
9 Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, “Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
10 Elisha answered, “Go and say to him, ‘You will certainly recover.’(J) Nevertheless,[a] the Lord has revealed to me that he will in fact die.” 11 He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael was embarrassed.(K) Then the man of God began to weep.(L)
12 “Why is my lord weeping?” asked Hazael.
“Because I know the harm(M) you will do to the Israelites,” he answered. “You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash(N) their little children(O) to the ground, and rip open(P) their pregnant women.”
13 Hazael said, “How could your servant, a mere dog,(Q) accomplish such a feat?”
“The Lord has shown me that you will become king(R) of Aram,” answered Elisha.
14 Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, “What did Elisha say to you?” Hazael replied, “He told me that you would certainly recover.” 15 But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died.(S) Then Hazael succeeded him as king.
Jehoram King of Judah(T)
16 In the fifth year of Joram(U) son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram(V) son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah. 17 He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. 18 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter(W) of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. 19 Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy(X) Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp(Y) for David and his descendants forever.
20 In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.(Z) 21 So Jehoram[b] went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home. 22 To this day Edom has been in rebellion(AA) against Judah. Libnah(AB) revolted at the same time.
23 As for the other events of Jehoram’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.
Ahaziah King of Judah(AC)
25 In the twelfth(AD) year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. 26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah,(AE) a granddaughter of Omri(AF) king of Israel. 27 He followed the ways of the house of Ahab(AG) and did evil(AH) in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab’s family.
28 Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead.(AI) The Arameans wounded Joram; 29 so King Joram returned to Jezreel(AJ) to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth[c] in his battle with Hazael(AK) king of Aram.
Then Ahaziah(AL) son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.
