ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଏକବାର୍ତ୍ତା
1 ଅନନ୍ତର ଆହାବଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁପରେ ମୋୟାବ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ବିଦ୍ରୋହାଚରଣ କଲେ।
2 ଏକଦା ଅହସିୟ ତାଙ୍କର ଶମରିୟାସ୍ଥିତ ଗୃହର ଛାତ ଉପରୁ ଝରକା ଦେଇ ପଡ଼ି ଆହତ ହେଲେ। ସେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଦୂତମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ, “ଯାଅ, ମୁଁ ଏହି ଆଘାତରୁ ଆରୋଗ୍ୟ ଲାଭ କରିବି କି ନାହିଁ, ଏହା ଇକ୍ରୋଣର ଯାଜକ ବାଲ୍-ସବୂବଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରି ପଗ୍ଭର।”
3 ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୂତ ତିଶ୍ବୀୟ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯାଅ, ଶମରିୟା ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଦୂତମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ‘ଇସ୍ରାଏଲରେ କ’ଣ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ନାହାନ୍ତି ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଇକ୍ରୋଣର ଦେବତା ବାଲ୍-ସବୂବଙ୍କୁ ପରାମର୍ଶ କରିବାକୁ ଯାଉଛ? 4 ପୁଣି ଅହସିୟଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ଯେହେତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ବାଲ୍-ସବୂବଙ୍କ ପରାମର୍ଶ କରିବାକୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହା କୁହନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଶଯ୍ୟାରୁ ଉଠିବ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଶ୍ଚିତ ମୃତ୍ୟୁବରଣ କରିବ।’” ଏଲିୟ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏହା କହି ପରିତ୍ୟାଗ କଲେ।
5 ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନେ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରି ଆସନ୍ତେ, ଅହସିୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭରିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କାହିଁକି ଶୀଘ୍ର ଫେରି ଆସିଲ?”
6 ତହୁଁ ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନେ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଲେ ଓ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଫେରିଯାଅ ଓ ତାଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କୁହନ୍ତି, ‘ଇସ୍ରାଏଲରେ କ’ଣ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ନାହାନ୍ତି? ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାହିଁକି ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନଙ୍କୁ ଇକ୍ରୋଣର ଦେବତା ବାଲ୍-ସବୂବଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭରିବାକୁ ପଠାଇଅଛ? ତେଣୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆଉ ଶଯ୍ୟାରୁ ଉଠିବ ନାହିଁ, ସେହିଠାରେ ମରିବ।’”
7 ଅହସିୟ ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭରିଲେ, “ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ତୁମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରି ଆସି ଏହିସବୁ କହିଲା, ସେ ଜଣେ କି ପ୍ରକାର ଲୋକ?”
8 ବାର୍ତ୍ତାବହମାନେ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର କଲେ, “ସେ ଲୋକଟି ଲୋମଶ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ପରିଧାନ କରିଥିଲା[a] ଓ ତା'ର କଟିରେ ଏକ ଚମଡ଼ାର ପଟୁକା ବନ୍ଧା ଥିଲା।”
ତା'ପରେ ଅହସିୟ କହିଲେ, “ସେ ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ତିଶ୍ବୀୟ ଏଲିୟ।”
9 ଅନନ୍ତର ଅହସିୟ ଜଣେ ଅଧିନାୟକ ଓ ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। ଅଧିନାୟକ ଉପରକୁ ଯାଇ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କୁ ମିଶିଲେ ଯିଏ ପର୍ବତ ଉପରେ ବସିଥିଲେ ଓ କହିଲେ, “ହେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ, ଦୟାକରି ‘ତଳକୁ ଆସ।’” କାରଣ ରାଜା ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ଭହାନ୍ତି।
10 ଏଲିୟ ସେହି ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକ ଅଧିନାୟକଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯଦି ମୁଁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ ହୋଇଥାଏ, ତେବେ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରୁ ଅଗ୍ନି ଆସି ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ରାସ କରୁ।”
ତେଣୁ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରୁ ଅଗ୍ନି ଆସି ଅଧିନାୟକଙ୍କ ସହିତ ତାଙ୍କର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଦଗ୍ଧିଭୂତ କଲା।
11 ପୁନର୍ବାର ଅହସିୟ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ଅଧିନାୟକ ଓ ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଏଲିୟ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। ସେ ଅଧିନାୟକ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କୁ ପୂର୍ବପରି କହିଲେ, “ହେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ, ରାଜା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଗ୍ଭହାନ୍ତି, ‘ଦୟାକରି ତଳକୁ ଆସ।’”
12 ଏଲିୟ ସେ ଅଧିନାୟକଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯେବେ ମୁଁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ, ତେବେ ଆକାଶରୁ ଅଗ୍ନି ଆସୁ ଏବଂ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ରାସ କରୁ।”
ତେଣୁ ଅଗ୍ନି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରୁ ଆସି ଅଧିନାୟକ ସହିତ ତା'ର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ରାସ କଲା।
13 ଏହା ପରେ ଅହସିୟ ତୃତୀୟ ଥର ଅଧିନାୟକ ସହିତ ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ପୁଣି ପଠାଇଲେ। ତୃତୀୟ ଅଧିନାୟକ ଏଲିୟ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କ ଆଗରେ ନମ୍ର ଭାବରେ ମଥାନତ କଲେ ଏବଂ କହିଲେ, “ହେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ, ମୁଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଛି, ମୋର ଜୀବନ ସହିତ ମୋର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ ଆପଣ ବଞ୍ଚାନ୍ତୁ ଓ ରକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତୁ। 14 ଅଗ୍ନି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରୁ ଆସି ପୂର୍ବ ଦୁଇ ଅଧିପତି ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପଗ୍ଭଶ୍ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ପୋଡ଼ି ପକାଇଲା। ମାତ୍ର ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଆପଣ ଦୟାକରି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଞ୍ଚାନ୍ତୁ।”
15 ତତ୍ପରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୂତ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଅଧିନାୟକଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଯାଅ, ତାଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କର ନାହିଁ।”
ତେଣୁ ଏଲିୟ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲେ।
16 ତହୁଁ ଏଲିୟ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଇସ୍ରାଏଲରେ କ’ଣ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ନାହାନ୍ତି? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଇକ୍ରୋଣ ଦେବତା ବାଲ୍-ସବୂବଠାରୁ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ପଗ୍ଭରିବାକୁ, କାହିଁକି ଦୂତ ପଠାଇଲ? ତୁମ୍ଭର ଏହି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଯୋଗୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଶଯ୍ୟାରୁ ଆଉ ଉଠିବ ନାହିଁ, ସେହିଠାରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମରିବ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହିସବୁ ବାକ୍ୟଗୁଡ଼ିକ କହିଲେ।”
ଯିହୋରାମ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ସ୍ଥାନ ନେଲେ
17 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏଲିୟଙ୍କ ଦେଇ କହିଥିବା ଅନୁସାରେ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କର ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ହେଲା। ତାଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ନ ଥିବାରୁ ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ପରେ ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଯିହୋଶାଫଟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଯିହୋରାମର ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ବର୍ଷ ରାଜତ୍ୱ କାଳରେ ଯିହୋରାମ ତାଙ୍କ ପଦରେ ରାଜ୍ୟ କରିବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ।
18 ଅହସିୟଙ୍କ ଅନ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ରାଜାମାନଙ୍କର ଇତିହାସ ପୁସ୍ତକରେ ଲିଖିତ ହୋଇଛି।

1 Depois da morte de Acabe, Moabe se rebelou contra Israel.
2 Certo dia Acazias estava no primeiro andar da sua casa e, ao ceder o chão sob os seus pés, caiu e ficou gravemente ferido. Estando de cama, mandou chamar os seus mensageiros e lhes disse:
—Vão consultar a Baal-Zebube, deus de Ecrom, e perguntem a ele se me recuperarei deste acidente ou não.
3 Mas o anjo do SENHOR disse a Elias, o tesbita:
—Vá, encontre os mensageiros do rei Acazias e diga a eles o seguinte: “Por acaso não há um Deus em Israel? Por que vão consultar Baal-Zebube, deus de Ecrom? 4 Por ter feito isso eu, o SENHOR, digo que Acazias não se levantará da cama, mas irá morrer”.
E Elias saiu. 5 Quando os mensageiros voltaram, Acazias lhes perguntou:
—Por que voltaram tão depressa?
6 Os mensageiros disseram a Acazias:
—Nós encontramos um homem que nos disse que voltassemos para o rei que nos mandou e lhe comunicassemos o que diz o SENHOR: “Se há um Deus em Israel, por que mandou mensageiros para consultar o futuro a Baal-Zebube, deus de Ecrom? Por ter feito isso, não se levantará da cama. Certamente morrerá!”
7 Acazias perguntou aos seus mensageiros:
—Como era o homem com quem se encontraram?
Eles disseram:
8 —O homem levava um manto de pele[a] e um cinto de couro cingido à cintura.
Acazias respondeu:
—Era Elias, o tesbita.
O fogo destrói os homens de Acazias
9 Acazias ordenou que um capitão fosse procurar Elias e levasse cinquenta soldados. Eles o encontraram sentado no alto de um monte, e o capitão disse a Elias:
—Homem de Deus,[b] o rei ordena que você desça.
10 Elias respondeu:
—Se sou um homem de Deus, que caia fogo do céu e destrua você e toda a sua tropa.
Então caiu fogo do céu e destruiu o capitão e os cinquenta soldados.
11 Acazias mandou outro capitão com cinquenta soldados. O capitão disse a Elias:
—Homem de Deus, o rei lhe ordena descer.
12 Elias disse:
—Se sou um homem de Deus, que caia fogo do céu e destrua você e toda a sua tropa.
Então, caiu fogo do céu e destruiu o capitão e os cinquenta soldados. 13 Acazias mandou um terceiro capitão com cinquenta soldados. Este se encontrou com Elias, se pôs de joelhos e implorou a Elias:
—Homem de Deus, peço a você que respeite a minha vida e a vida dos meus cinquenta soldados. 14 Já desceu fogo do céu e devorou os dois capitães anteriores com as suas tropas. Peço a você que leve em conta a minha vida.
15 O anjo do SENHOR disse a Elias:
—Vá com o capitão; não tenha medo deles.
Elias foi com o capitão para ver o rei Acazias.
16 Elias disse a Acazias:
—Assim diz o SENHOR: “Por ter mandado mensageiros para consultar o futuro com Baal-Zebube, deus de Ecrom, como se não tivesse um Deus em Israel a quem consultar, não se levantará da cama. Certamente morrerá!”
Jorão substitui Acazias
17 Acazias morreu, assim como disse o SENHOR por meio de Elias. Seu irmão Jorão reinou no seu lugar porque Acazias não teve filhos. Jorão começou a reinar durante o segundo ano de Jeorão, filho de Josafá, rei de Judá.
18 Todas as outras coisas que Acazias fez estão escritas em As Crônicas dos Reis de Israel.

The Lord’s Judgment on Ahaziah
1 After Ahab’s death, Moab(A) rebelled against Israel. 2 Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers,(B) saying to them, “Go and consult Baal-Zebub,(C) the god of Ekron,(D) to see if I will recover(E) from this injury.”
3 But the angel(F) of the Lord said to Elijah(G) the Tishbite, “Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel(H) that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’ 4 Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘You will not leave(I) the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!’” So Elijah went.
5 When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you come back?”
6 “A man came to meet us,” they replied. “And he said to us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, “This is what the Lord says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending messengers to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not leave(J) the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!”’”
7 The king asked them, “What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?”
8 They replied, “He had a garment of hair[a](K) and had a leather belt around his waist.”
The king said, “That was Elijah the Tishbite.”
9 Then he sent(L) to Elijah a captain(M) with his company of fifty men. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him, “Man of God, the king says, ‘Come down!’”
10 Elijah answered the captain, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire(N) fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.
11 At this the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. The captain said to him, “Man of God, this is what the king says, ‘Come down at once!’”
12 “If I am a man of God,” Elijah replied, “may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then the fire of God fell from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.
13 So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah. “Man of God,” he begged, “please have respect for my life(O) and the lives of these fifty men, your servants! 14 See, fire has fallen from heaven and consumed the first two captains and all their men. But now have respect for my life!”
15 The angel(P) of the Lord said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid(Q) of him.” So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.
16 He told the king, “This is what the Lord says: Is it because there is no God in Israel for you to consult that you have sent messengers(R) to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Because you have done this, you will never leave(S) the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!” 17 So he died,(T) according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken.
Because Ahaziah had no son, Joram[b](U) succeeded him as king in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah. 18 As for all the other events of Ahaziah’s reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
