Josiah Dies in Battle(A)
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 29 (B)In his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went [a]to the aid of the king of Assyria, to the River Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him. And Pharaoh Necho killed him at (C)Megiddo when he (D)confronted him. 30 (E)Then his servants moved his body in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And (F)the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in his father’s place.
The Reign and Captivity of Jehoahaz(G)
31 (H)Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was (I)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 32 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done. 33 Now Pharaoh Necho put him in prison (J)at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and he imposed on the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold. 34 Then (K)Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah, and (L)changed his name to (M)Jehoiakim. And Pharaoh took Jehoahaz (N)and went to Egypt, and [b]he died there.
Jehoiakim Reigns in Judah(O)
35 So Jehoiakim gave (P)the silver and gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give money according to the command of Pharaoh; he exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land, from every one according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Necho. 36 (Q)Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. 37 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
Judah Overrun by Enemies
24 In (R)his days Nebuchadnezzar king of (S)Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 (T)And the Lord sent against him raiding [c]bands of Chaldeans, bands of Syrians, bands of Moabites, and bands of the people of Ammon; He sent them against Judah to destroy it, (U)according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken by His servants the prophets. 3 Surely at the commandment of the Lord this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight (V)because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 (W)and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the Lord would not pardon.
5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 6 (X)So Jehoiakim rested with his fathers. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
7 And (Y)the king of Egypt did not come out of his land anymore, for (Z)the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates.
The Reign and Captivity of Jehoiachin(AA)
8 (AB)Jehoiachin[d] was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father had done.
10 (AC)At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city [e]was besieged. 11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, as his servants were besieging it. 12 (AD)Then Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers went out to the king of Babylon; and the king of Babylon, (AE)in the eighth year of his reign, took him prisoner.
The Captivity of Jerusalem
13 (AF)And he carried out from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, and he (AG)cut in pieces all the articles of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, (AH)as the Lord had said. 14 Also (AI)he carried into captivity all Jerusalem: all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, (AJ)ten thousand captives, and (AK)all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except (AL)the poorest people of the land. 15 And (AM)he carried Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. The king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the mighty of the land he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 (AN)All the valiant men, seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths, one thousand, all who were strong and fit for war, these the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
Zedekiah Reigns in Judah(AO)
17 Then (AP)the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, (AQ)Jehoiachin’s[f] uncle, king in his place, and (AR)changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 (AS)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was (AT)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 (AU)He also did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 20 For because of the anger of the Lord this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, that He finally cast them out from His presence. (AV)Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

28 And the rest of the matters of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 In his days hath Pharaoh-Nechoh king of Egypt come up against the king of Asshur, by the river Phrat, and king Josiah goeth out to meet him, and he putteth him to death in Megiddo, when he seeth him.
30 And his servants cause him to ride dying from Megiddo, and bring him in to Jerusalem, and bury him in his own grave, and the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and anoint him, and cause him to reign instead of his father.
31 A son of twenty and three years [is] Jehoahaz in his reigning, and three months he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah,
32 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers did,
33 and Pharaoh-Nechoh bindeth him in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, from reigning in Jerusalem, and he putteth a fine on the land -- a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34 And Pharaoh-Nechoh causeth Eliakim son of Josiah to reign instead of Josiah his father, and turneth his name to Jehoiakim, and Jehoahaz he hath taken away, and he cometh in to Egypt, and dieth there.
35 And the silver and the gold hath Jehoiakim given to Pharaoh; only he valued the land to give the silver by the command of Pharaoh; from each, according to his valuation, he exacted the silver and the gold, from the people of the land, to give to Pharaoh-Nechoh.
36 A son of twenty and five years [is] Jehoiakim in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Zebudah daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah,
37 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers did.

2 and Jehovah sendeth against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Aram, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the sons of Ammon, and He sendeth them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servants the prophets;
3 only, by the command of Jehovah it hath been against Judah to turn [them] aside from His presence, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did,
4 and also the innocent blood that he hath shed, and he filleth Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Jehovah was not willing to forgive.
5 And the rest of the matters of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
6 And Jehoiakim lieth with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigneth in his stead.
7 And the king of Egypt hath not added any more to go out from his own land, for the king of Babylon hath taken, from the brook of Egypt unto the river Phrat, all that had been to the king of Egypt.
8 A son of eighteen years [is] Jehoiachin in his reigning, and three months he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Nehushta, daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem,

14 And he hath removed all Jerusalem, and all the chiefs, and all the mighty ones of valour -- ten thousand [is] the removal -- and every artificer and smith, none hath been left save the poor of the people of the land.
15 And he removeth Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the mother of the king, and the wives of the king, and his eunuchs, and the mighty ones of the land -- he hath caused a removal to go from Jerusalem to Babylon,
16 and all the men of valour seven thousand, and the artificers and the smiths a thousand, the whole [are] mighty men, warriors; and the king of Babylon bringeth them in a captivity to Babylon.
17 And the king of Babylon causeth Mattaniah his father's brother to reign in his stead, and turneth his name to Zedekiah.
18 A son of twenty and one years [is] Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah,
19 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah according to all that Jehoiakim did,
20 for, by the anger of Jehovah it hath been against Jerusalem and against Judah, till he cast them out from His presence, that Zedekiah rebelleth against the king of Babylon.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 29 (A)In his days (B)Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the king of Assyria at the river Euphrates. And King Josiah went to meet him, and when Pharaoh Neco saw him he killed him at (C)Megiddo. 30 (D)His servants carried [a]his body in a chariot from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. (E)Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and anointed him and made him king in place of his father.
31 (F)Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was (G)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 32 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, (H)in accordance with all that his forefathers had done. 33 And (I)Pharaoh Neco imprisoned him at (J)Riblah in the land of (K)Hamath, so that he would not reign in Jerusalem; and he imposed on the land a fine of [b]a hundred talents of silver and [c]a talent of gold.
Jehoiakim Made King by Pharaoh
34 Then Pharaoh Neco made (L)Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of his father Josiah, and he (M)changed his name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz and [d](N)brought him to Egypt, and he died there. 35 So Jehoiakim (O)gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh, but he assessed the land in order to give the money at the [e]command of Pharaoh. He collected the silver and gold from the people of the land, each according to his assessment, to give to Pharaoh Neco.
36 (P)Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Zebidah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. 37 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, (Q)in accordance with all that his forefathers had done.
Babylon Controls Jehoiakim
24 (R)In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years; then he turned and revolted against him. 2 And the Lord sent against him (S)bands of Chaldeans, (T)bands of Arameans, (U)bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, (V)in accordance with the word of the Lord which He had spoken through His servants the prophets. 3 (W)It indeed came upon Judah at the [f]command of the Lord, to remove them from His sight (X)due to the sins of Manasseh, in accordance with everything that he had done, 4 and (Y)also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; and the Lord was unwilling to forgive. 5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Jehoiachin Reigns
6 So (Z)Jehoiakim [g]lay down with his fathers, and his son Jehoiachin became king in his place. 7 Now (AA)the king of Egypt did not come out of his land again, (AB)because the king of Babylon had taken everything that belonged to the king of Egypt from (AC)the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates.
8 (AD)Jehoiachin was (AE)eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, (AF)in accordance with all that his father had done.
Deportation to Babylon
10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon went up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege. 11 And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came to the city, while his servants were besieging it. 12 Then (AG)Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, his commanders, and his officials. And (AH)the king of Babylon took him prisoner in the eighth year of his reign. 13 (AI)He also brought out from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house, and he (AJ)smashed all the articles of gold (AK)that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, just as the Lord had said. 14 Then (AL)he led into exile all the people of Jerusalem and all the commanders and all the valiant warriors, (AM)ten thousand exiles, and (AN)all the craftsmen and the smiths. None were left (AO)except the poorest people of the land.
15 So (AP)he led Jehoiachin into exile to Babylon; also the king’s mother, the king’s wives, and his officials and the leading men of the land, he led into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 And all the valiant men, (AQ)seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths, a thousand, all strong and fit for war, these too the king of Babylon brought into exile to Babylon.
Zedekiah Made King
17 (AR)Then the king of Babylon made [h]his uncle Mattaniah king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 (AS)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was (AT)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, (AU)in accordance with everything that Jehoiakim had done. 20 For it was (AV)due to the anger of the Lord that this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He cast them out of His presence. And (AW)Zedekiah revolted against the king of Babylon.
