Prayer for National Victory after Defeat

To the leader: according to the Lily of the Covenant. A Miktam of David; for instruction; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and when Joab on his return killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

¹¹ Amaziah strengthened himself and led out his people; he went to the Valley of Salt and struck down ten thousand men of Seir.^{(A) 12} The people of Judah captured another ten thousand alive, took them to the top of Sela, and threw them down from the top of Sela, so that all of them were dashed to pieces.

²⁰ In his days Edom revolted against the rule of Judah and set up a king of their own.^{(A) 21} Then Joram crossed over to Zair with all his chariots. He set out by night and attacked the Edomites and their chariot commanders who had surrounded him,^[a] but his army fled home.^{(B) 22} So Edom has been in revolt against the rule of Judah to this day.
