Ang Biblia (1978)
Si Josaphat ay dumalangin upang siya'y tulungan laban sa Moab at Ammon.
20 At nangyari, pagkatapos nito, na ang mga anak ni (A)Moab, at ang mga anak ni (B)Ammon, at pati ng iba sa mga Ammonita, ay naparoon laban kay Josaphat upang makipagbaka.
2 Nang magkagayo'y nagsiparoon ang iba na nagsipagsaysay kay Josaphat, na nagsasabi, May lumalabas na isang lubhang karamihan laban sa iyo na mula sa dako roon ng dagat na mula sa Siria; at, narito, sila'y nangasa Hasason-tamar (na siyang (C)Engedi).
3 At si Josaphat ay natakot, at tumalagang (D)hanapin ang Panginoon; at siya'y (E)nagtanyag ng ayuno sa buong Juda.
4 At ang Juda'y nagpipisan, upang huminging tulong sa Panginoon: sa makatuwid baga'y mula sa lahat na bayan ng Juda ay nagsiparoon upang hanapin ang Panginoon.
5 At si Josaphat ay tumayo sa kapisanan ng Juda at Jerusalem, sa bahay ng Panginoon, sa harap ng bagong looban;
6 At kaniyang sinabi, Oh Panginoon, na Dios ng aming mga magulang, (F)di ba ikaw ay Dios sa langit? (G)at di ba ikaw ay puno sa lahat na kaharian ng mga bansa? at nasa iyong kamay ang kapangyarihan at lakas, na anopa't walang makahaharap sa iyo.
7 (H)Di mo ba pinalayas, Oh aming Dios, ang mga nananahan sa lupaing ito sa harap ng iyong bayang Israel, at iyong ibinigay sa binhi ni Abraham na (I)iyong kaibigan magpakailan man?
8 At nagsitahan sila roon at ipinagtayo ka ng santuario roon na ukol sa iyong pangalan, na sinasabi,
9 (J)Kung ang kasamaan ay dumating sa amin, ang tabak ng kahatulan, o salot, o kagutom, kami ay magsisitayo (K)sa harap ng bahay na ito, at sa harap mo, (sapagka't ang (L)iyong pangalan ay nasa bahay na ito,) at kami ay dadaing sa iyo sa aming pagdadalamhati, at kami ay iyong didinggin at ililigtas.
10 At ngayon, narito, ang mga anak ni (M)Ammon at ni Moab, at ng sa bundok ng Seir na (N)hindi mo ipinalusob sa Israel, nang sila'y magsilabas sa lupain ng Egipto, kundi kanilang (O)nilikuan sila, at hindi sila nilipol;
11 Tingnan mo, kung paanong sila'y gumaganti sa amin, na nagsisiparito upang palayasin kami sa (P)iyong pagaari, na iyong ibinigay sa amin upang manahin.
12 Oh aming Dios, hindi mo ba hahatulan sila? sapagka't wala kaming kaya laban sa malaking pulutong na ito na naparirito laban sa amin, ni hindi man nalalaman namin kung anong marapat gawin; nguni't ang aming mga (Q)mata ay nasa iyo.
13 At ang buong Juda ay tumayo sa harap ng Panginoon, pati ang kanilang mga bata, ang kanilang mga asawa, at ang kanilang mga anak.
14 Nang magkagayo'y dumating kay Jahaziel na anak ni Zacharias, na anak ni Benaias, na anak ni Jeiel, na anak ni Mathanias na Levita, sa mga anak ni Asaph (R)ang Espiritu ng Panginoon sa gitna ng kapisanan;
15 At kaniyang sinabi, Dinggin ninyo, buong Juda, at ninyong mga taga Jerusalem, at ikaw na haring Josaphat: ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon sa inyo, Huwag kayong mangatakot, o manglupaypay man dahil sa malaking karamihang ito; (S)sapagka't ang pakikipagbaka ay hindi inyo, kundi sa Dios.
16 Bukas ay magsilusong kayo laban sa kanila: narito, sila'y nagsiahon sa ahunan ng Sis; at inyong masusumpungan sila sa dulo ng libis, sa harap ng ilang ng Jeruel.
17 Kayo'y hindi magkakailangan na makipaglaban sa pagbabakang ito: magsilagay kayo, (T)magsitayo kayong panatag, at tingnan ninyo ang pagliligtas, ng Panginoon na kasama ninyo, Oh Juda at Jerusalem: (U)huwag kayong mangatakot, o manganglupaypay man: bukas ay magsilabas kayo laban sa kanila; sapagka't ang Panginoon ay sumasa inyo.
18 At (V)itinungo ni Josaphat ang kaniyang ulo sa lupa: at ang buong Juda at ang mga taga Jerusalem ay nangagpatirapa sa harap ng Panginoon, na nagsisamba sa Panginoon.
19 At ang mga Levita, sa mga (W)anak ng mga Coathita at sa (X)mga anak ng mga Coraita; ay nagsitayo upang purihin ang Panginoon, ang Dios ng Israel, ng totoong malakas na tinig.
Ang Moab at Ammon ay nangalat.
20 At sila'y nagsibangong maaga sa kinaumagahan, at nagsilabas sa (Y)ilang ng Tecoa: at habang sila'y nagsisilabas, si Josaphat ay tumayo, at nagsabi, Dinggin ninyo ako, Oh Juda, at ninyong mga taga Jerusalem; (Z)sumampalataya kayo sa Panginoon ninyong Dios, sa gayo'y matatatag kayo; sumampalataya kayo sa kaniyang mga propeta, sa gayo'y giginhawa kayo.
21 At nang siya'y makakuhang payo sa bayan, kaniyang inihalal sa kanila ang magsisiawit sa Panginoon (AA)at magsisipuri sa ganda ng kabanalan habang sila'y nagsisilabas na nagpapauna sa hukbo at magsipagsabi, (AB)Mangagpasalamat kayo sa Panginoon; sapagka't ang kaniyang kaawaan ay magpakailan man.
22 At nang sila'y mangagpasimulang magsiawit at magsipuri, ang Panginoon ay naglagay ng mga (AC)bakay laban sa mga anak ni (AD)Ammon, ni Moab, at ng sa bundok ng Seir, na nagsiparoon laban sa Juda; at sila'y nangasugatan.
23 Sapagka't ang mga anak ni Ammon at ni Moab ay nagsitayo laban sa mga taga bundok ng Seir, upang lubos na magsipatay at lipulin sila: at nang sila'y makatapos sa mga taga bundok ng Seir, bawa't isa'y tumulong na (AE)lumipol sa iba.
24 At nang ang Juda ay dumating sa bantayang moog sa ilang, sila'y nagsitingin sa karamihan; at, narito, mga bangkay na nangakabuwal sa lupa, at walang nakatanan.
25 At nang si Josaphat at ang kaniyang bayan ay magsiparoon upang kunin ang samsam sa kanila, kanilang nasumpungan sa kanila na sagana ay mga kayamanan at mga bangkay, at mga mahahalagang hiyas na kanilang mga sinamsam para sa kanilang sarili, na higit kay sa kanilang madala: at sila'y nagsidoon na tatlong araw, sa pagkuha ng samsam, na totoong marami.
26 At nang ikaapat na araw, sila'y nagpupulong sa libis ng Baracah; sapagka't doo'y kanilang pinuri ang Panginoon: kaya't ang pangalan ng dakong yaon ay tinawag na Libis ng Baracah, hanggang sa araw na ito.
27 Nang magkagayo'y nagsibalik sila, bawa't lalake sa Juda, at sa Jerusalem, at si Josaphat ay sa unahan nila, upang bumalik sa Jerusalem na may kagalakan; sapagka't sila'y (AF)pinapagkatuwa ng Panginoon sa kanilang mga kaaway.
28 At sila'y nagsiparoon sa Jerusalem na may mga (AG)salterio at mga alpa, at mga pakakak sa bahay ng Panginoon.
29 At ang (AH)takot sa Dios ay napasa lahat na kaharian ng mga lupain, nang kanilang mabalitaang ang Panginoon ay nakipaglaban sa mga kaaway ng Israel.
30 Sa gayo'y ang kaharian ni Josaphat ay natahimik: sapagka't binigyan siya ng kaniyang (AI)Dios ng kapahingahan sa palibot.
31 At si Josaphat ay (AJ)naghari sa Juda: siya'y may tatlong pu't limang taong gulang nang siya'y magpasimulang maghari; at siya'y nagharing dalawang pu't limang taon sa Jerusalem: at ang pangalan ng kaniyang ina ay Azuba na anak ni Silhi.
32 At siya'y lumakad ng lakad ni Asa na kaniyang ama, at hindi siya lumiko sa paggawa ng matuwid sa harap ng mga mata ng Panginoon.
33 (AK)Gayon ma'y ang mga mataas na dako ay hindi inalis; ni (AL)inilagak pa man ng bayan ang kanilang puso sa Dios ng kanilang mga magulang.
34 Ang iba nga sa mga gawa ni Josaphat, na una at huli, narito, nangakasulat sa kasaysayan ni Jehu na anak ni Hanani, na nasusulat sa aklat (AM)ng mga hari sa Israel.

Tinalo ni Jehoshafat ang Moab at Ammon
20 Pagkatapos, nakipaglaban ang mga Moabita at mga Ammonita, kasama ng ibang mga Meuneo,[a] kay Jehoshafat. 2 May mga taong pumunta kay Jehoshafat at nagsabi, “Napakarami pong sundalo ang papalapit upang lusubin kayo. Silaʼy galing sa Edom,[b] sa kabilang bahagi ng Dagat na Patay. Naroon sila sa Hazazon Tamar” (na tinatawag ding En Gedi). 3 Natakot si Jehoshafat at dumulog siya sa Panginoon. At nag-utos siya na mag-ayuno ang lahat ng taga-Juda. 4 Kaya nagtipon ang mga tao mula sa lahat ng bayan ng Juda upang humingi ng tulong sa Panginoon. 5 Tumayo si Jehoshafat sa harapan ng mamamayan ng Juda at ng Jerusalem doon sa harap ng templo ng Panginoon, sa harapan ng bagong bakuran nito, 6 at nagsabi, “O Panginoon, Dios ng aming mga ninuno, kayo po ang Dios na nasa langit. Kayo ang namamahala sa lahat ng kaharian sa mundo. Makapangyarihan po kayo dahil walang makakalaban sa inyo. 7 O Dios namin, hindi baʼt itinaboy nʼyo po ang mga nakatira sa lupaing ito sa pamamagitan ng inyong mga mamamayan? At hindi ba ibinigay nʼyo po ito sa kanila na mga lahi ni Abraham na inyong kaibigan, para maging kanila magpakailanman? 8 Nakatira po sila rito at pinatayuan ng templo para sa karangalan ng inyong pangalan. Sinabi nila, 9 ‘Kung may sakunang darating sa amin gaya ng labanan, kasamaan, o taggutom, tatayo kami sa inyong presensya sa harap ng templong ito kung saan pinararangalan kayo. Hihingi kami ng tulong sa inyo sa aming kahirapan, at pakikinggan nʼyo kami at ililigtas.’
10 “Ngayon, nilulusob kami ng mga tao mula sa Ammon, Moab at Bundok ng Seir. Noon, ang mga teritoryo nila ay hindi nʼyo pinapayagang sakupin ng mga Israelita nang lumabas sila sa Egipto. Kaya umiwas ang mga Israelita sa kanila at hindi sila nilipol. 11 Pero ngayon, masdan nʼyo po ang iginanti nila sa amin. Nilulusob nila kami para itaboy kami sa lupain na inyo pong ibinigay sa amin bilang mana. 12 O Dios namin, hindi nʼyo po ba sila parurusahan? Sapagkat wala kaming kakayahang humarap sa napakaraming sundalo na lumulusob sa amin. Hindi po namin alam kung ano ang gagawin namin, pero nagtitiwala po kami sa inyo.”
13 Habang nakatayo roon ang lahat ng lalaking taga-Juda, kasama ang kanilang mga asawaʼt anak, at kanilang mga sanggol, 14 pinatnubayan ng Espiritu ng Panginoon si Jahaziel na nakatayo roon kasama nila. Si Jahaziel ay anak ni Zacarias. Si Zacarias ay anak ni Benaya. Si Benaya ay anak ni Jeyel. At si Jeyel ay anak ni Matania na Levita at mula sa angkan ni Asaf.
15 Sinabi ni Jahaziel, “Makinig po kayo, Haring Jehoshafat, at lahat kayong nakatira sa Juda at Jerusalem! Ito ang sinasabi ng Panginoon sa inyo, ‘Huwag kayong matakot o manlupaypay dahil sa napakaraming sundalong ito, dahil ang pakikipaglaban ay hindi sa inyo kundi sa Dios. 16 Bukas, puntahan nʼyo sila. Makikita nʼyo sila na aahon sa ahunan ng Ziz, sa dulo ng kapatagan na papuntang disyerto ng Jeruel. 17 Hindi na kailangan na makipaglaban pa kayo. Maghanda lang kayo at magpakatatag, at masdan nʼyo ang katagumpayan na gagawin ng Panginoon para sa inyo. Kayong mga taga-Juda at taga-Jerusalem, huwag kayong matakot o manghina. Harapin nʼyo sila bukas at ang Panginoon ay sasama sa inyo.’ ” 18 Lumuhod si Jehoshafat at ang lahat ng taga-Juda at taga-Jerusalem sa pagsamba sa Panginoon. 19 Pagkatapos, tumayo ang ibang mga Levita mula sa mga pamilya nina Kohat at Kora at nagpuri sa Panginoon, ang Dios ng Israel, sa napakalakas na tinig.
20 Kinabukasan nang maagang-maaga pa, pumunta sina Jehoshafat sa disyerto ng Tekoa. Habang naglalakad sila, huminto si Jehoshafat at nagsabi, “Pakinggan nʼyo ako, kayong taga-Juda at taga-Jerusalem! Maniwala kayo sa Panginoon na inyong Dios, at maging matatag kayo. Maniwala kayo sa kanyang propeta, at magtatagumpay kayo.” 21 Pagkatapos niyang makipag-usap sa mga tao, pumili siya ng mga mang-aawit para mauna sa kanila at umawit sa Panginoon upang papurihan siya sa kanyang banal na presensya. Ito ang kanilang inaawit: “Pasalamatan ang Panginoon dahil ang kanyang pag-ibig ay walang hanggan.” 22 At nang nagsimula silang umawit ng mga papuri, pinaglaban-laban ng Panginoon ang mga Moabita, Ammonita at mga taga-Bundok ng Seir. 23 Nilusob ng mga Ammonita at Moabita ang mga sundalo ng mga taga-Bundok ng Seir at nilipol silang lahat. Pagkatapos nilang pumatay, sila naman ang nagpatayan. 24 Pagdating ng mga sundalo ng Juda sa mataas na bahagi ng disyerto, nakita nila ang mga bangkay ng mga kalaban nila na nakahandusay sa lupa. Wala kahit isang buhay. 25 Kaya pinuntahan ito ni Jehoshafat at ng mga tauhan niya, at sinamsam ang kanilang mga ari-arian. Marami ang kanilang nasamsam na mga gamit, mga damit,[c] at iba pang mahahalagang bagay na halos hindi na nila madala. Inabot sila ng tatlong araw sa pagsamsam dahil sa sobrang dami ng mga ari-arian. 26 Nang ikaapat na araw, nagtipon sila sa Lambak ng Beraca kung saan nagpuri sila sa Panginoon. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit tinawag itong Lambak ng Beraca[d] hanggang ngayon.
27 Pagkatapos, bumalik sila sa Jerusalem na pinangunahan ni Jehoshafat. Masaya sila dahil pinagtagumpay sila ng Panginoon sa kanilang mga kalaban. 28 Pagdating nila sa Jerusalem, dumiretso sila sa templo ng Panginoon, na tumutugtog ng mga alpa, lira at mga trumpeta.
29 Nang marinig ng lahat ng kaharian kung paano nakipaglaban ang Panginoon sa mga kalaban ng Israel, natakot sila. 30 Kaya may kapayapaan ang kaharian ni Jehoshafat dahil binigyan siya ng kanyang Dios ng kapayapaan sa kanyang paligid.
Ang Katapusan ng Paghahari ni Jehoshafat(A)
31 Iyon ang paghahari ni Jehoshafat sa Juda. Siyaʼy 35 taong gulang nang maging hari. Sa Jerusalem siya tumira, at naghari siya roon sa loob ng 25 taon. Ang ina niya ay si Azuba na anak ni Silhi. 32 Sinunod niya ang pamumuhay ng ama niyang si Asa. Matuwid ang kanyang ginawa sa paningin ng Panginoon. 33 Pero hindi niya inalis ang mga sambahan sa matataas na lugar,[e] at ang mga tao ay hindi pa rin naging tapat sa pagsunod sa Dios ng kanilang ninuno.
34 Ang iba pang salaysay sa paghahari ni Jehoshafat, mula simula hanggang sa katapusan ay nakasulat sa Mga Aklat ni Jehu na anak ni Hanani, na kasama sa Aklat ng Kasaysayan ng mga hari ng Juda.
35 Pero sa mga huling bahagi ng paghahari ni Jehoshafat sa Juda, nakipag-alyansa siya kay Haring Ahazia ng Israel, na isang masamang tao. 36 Nagkasundo sila na magpagawa ng mga barko na pang-negosyo.[f] Ipinagawa nila ito sa piyer ng Ezion Geber. 37 Sinabi ni Eliezer na anak ni Dodavahu na taga-Maresha kay Jehoshafat, “Dahil kumampi ka kay Ahazia, gigibain ko ang ipinagawa ninyo.” Kaya nagiba ang barko at hindi ito nakapaglakbay.

20 After these things the sons of Moab, and the sons of Ammon, and with them Idumeans, were gathered together, and they came to Jehoshaphat, for to fight against him. (And after these things the Moabites, and the Ammonites, and with them the Meunites, were gathered together, and they came to Jehoshaphat, to fight against him.)
2 And messengers came, and showed this to Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude of those places that be beyond the sea, and of Syria, is come against thee; and lo! they stand together in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. (And messengers came, and told this to Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude from that place on the other side of the Dead Sea, yea, from Edom, hath come against thee; and lo! they stand together in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.)
3 Forsooth Jehoshaphat was afeared by dread, and gave himself all for to pray the Lord, and preached fasting to all Judah. (And Jehoshaphat was filled with fear, and gave his all to pray to the Lord, and preached a fast for all of Judah.)
4 And Judah was gathered together for to pray (to) the Lord, and also all men came from their cities for to beseech him.
5 And when Jehoshaphat had stood in the midst of the company of Judah and of Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new large place of the temple, (And when Jehoshaphat had stood in the middle of the congregation of Judah and of Jerusalem, in the House of the Lord, in front of the new courtyard of the Temple,)
6 he said, Lord God of our fathers, thou art God in heaven, and thou art Lord of all (the) realms of folks; strength and power be in thine hand, and none may against-stand thee. (he said, Lord God of our fathers, thou art God in heaven, and thou art Lord of all the kingdoms of the nations; strength and power be in thine hand, and no one can stand against thee.)
7 Whether not thou, our God, hast slain all the dwellers of this land before thy people Israel, and hast given it to the seed of Abraham, thy friend, [into] without end? (Hast not thou, our God, killed all the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and hast thou not given it to the descendants of Abraham, thy friend, forevermore?)
8 And they dwelled therein, and builded therein a saintuary to thy name, and said, (And they lived here, and built a sanctuary in honour of thy name, and said,)
9 If evils come [up]on us, the sword of doom, pestilence, or hunger (yea, the sword, or judgement, or pestilence, or hunger), we shall stand before this house (into) without end in thy sight, in which house thy name is called (upon), and we shall cry to thee in our tribulations; and thou shalt hear us, and shalt make us safe.
10 Now therefore lo! the sons of Ammon, and of Moab, and the hill (country) of Seir, by whom thou grantedest not to the sons of Israel for to pass (through their lands), when they went out of Egypt, but they bowed away from them, and killed not them, (And so now lo! the Ammonites, and the Moabites, and those of the hill country of Seir, whom thou grantedest not to the Israelites to pass through their lands, when they went out of Egypt, but they turned away from them, and did not kill them,)
11 but (now) they do on the contrary, and endeavour to cast us out of the possession, which thou, our God, hast given to us;
12 therefore whether thou, Lord, shalt not deem them? Truly in us is not so great strength, that we may against-stand this multitude, that falleth in upon us; but since we know not what we ought to do, we, the residue, have this only, that we (ad)dress our eyes to thee. (and so shalt thou not judge them? Truly there is not in us so great a strength, that we can stand against this multitude, who falleth in against us; but since we know not what we ought to do, we, who remain, have only this, that we direct our eyes to thee.)
13 And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little children, and their wives, and with their free children.
14 And Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, was a deacon, and of the sons of Asaph, upon whom the Spirit of the Lord was made in the midst of the company, (And Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, was a Levite of the sons of Asaph, upon whom the Spirit of the Lord came in the middle of the congregation,)
15 and he said, All Judah, and ye that dwell in Jerusalem, and thou, king Jehoshaphat, perceive ye, or taketh heed, The Lord saith these things to you, Do not ye dread, neither be ye afeared of this multitude, for it is not your battle, but God’s battle. (and he said, All Judah, and ye who live in Jerusalem, and thou, king Jehoshaphat, take heed, The Lord saith these things to you, Do not ye fear, nor be ye afraid of this multitude, for it is not your battle, but God’s battle.)
16 Tomorrow ye shall go up against them; for they shall go up by the side of the hill, called Ziz by name, and ye shall find them in the height of the strand, that is against the wilderness of Jeruel. (Tomorrow ye shall go out against them; for they shall go up by the Ziz Pass, and ye shall find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel.)
17 For it shall not be ye, that shall fight; but only stand ye trustily (For it shall not be ye, who shall fight; but only stand ye there with trust/in faith), and ye shall see the help of the Lord upon you. O! Judah and Jerusalem, do not ye dread, neither be ye afeared; tomorrow ye shall go out against them, and the Lord shall be with you.
18 Therefore Jehoshaphat, and Judah, and all the dwellers of Jerusalem, fell lowly upon the earth before the Lord, and worshipped him. (And so Jehoshaphat, and Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, fell low on the ground before the Lord, and worshipped him.)
19 And the deacons of the sons of Kohath, and of the sons of Korah (And the Levites of the Kohathites, and of the Korahites), praised the Lord God of Israel with [a] great voice on high.
20 And when upon the morrow they had risen early, they went out by the desert of Tekoa; and when they had gone forth, Jehoshaphat stood in the midst of them, and said, Judah, and all the dwellers of Jerusalem, hear ye me; believe ye in the Lord your God, and ye shall be secure; believe ye to his prophets, and all prosperities shall come to you. (And when they had risen early the next morning, they went out by the wilderness of Tekoa; and when they had gone forth, Jehoshaphat stood in their midst, and said, Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, listen ye to me; believe ye in the Lord your God, and ye shall be secure; believe ye his prophets, and ye shall prosper.)
21 And he gave counsel to the people, and he ordained the singers of the Lord, that they should praise him in their companies, and that they should go before the host, and say with according voice, Acknowledge ye to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy is without end. (And he consulted with the people, and he ordained the singers of the Lord, to praise him in their companies, and to go before the army, and to sing together with a loud voice, Praise ye the Lord, for he is good; for his love endureth forevermore.)
22 And when they began to sing praisings, the Lord turned the ambushments of them against themselves, that is, of the sons of Ammon, and of Moab, and of the hill of Seir, which went out to fight against Judah; and they were slain. (And when they began to sing their praises, the Lord turned their enemies’ ambushes back against themselves, that is, against the Ammonites, and the Moabites, and those of the hill country of Seir, yea, all who went to fight against Judah; and they were killed.)
23 For why the sons of Ammon and of Moab rose together against the dwellers of the hill of Seir, to slay, and to do away them; and when they had done this thing in work, they were then also turned against themselves, and they fell down together by wounds, each slaying (the) other. (For the Ammonites and the Moabites rose up together against the inhabitants of the hill country of Seir, to kill them, and to do them away; and when they had done this thing, then they turned against each other, and they fell down wounded together, each killing the other.)
24 Certainly when Judah was come to the den, (or the cave,) that beholdeth, or is over against, the wilderness, he saw afar all the large country full of dead bodies, and that none was left, that might escape death. (And when the men of Judah came to the watch-tower, that overlooketh the wilderness, they saw all the countryside far and wide full of dead bodies, and that no one was left, who had escaped death.)
25 Therefore Jehoshaphat came, and all the people with him, to draw away the spoils of [the] dead men, and they found among the dead bodies diverse purtenance of household, and clothes, and full precious vessels; and they ravished, or took those things away, in diverse manners, so that they might not bear all things, neither they might take away the spoils by three days, for the greatness of [the] prey. (And so Jehoshaphat, and all the people with him, came to take away the dead men’s spoils, and they found among the dead bodies diverse purtenance of household, and clothes, and very precious vessels; and they took those things away, by many means, but even over the course of three days, they could not carry away all those things, and take away all the spoils, for the greatness of the prey.)
26 Soothly in the fourth day they were gathered together in the valley of Blessing; for-thy that they blessed the Lord there, they called that place the valley of Blessing, unto this present day. (And on the fourth day they gathered together in the Berachah Valley, that is, in the Valley of Blessing; for because they blessed the Lord there, that place is called the Valley of Blessing, unto this present day.)
27 And each man of Judah turned again, and the dwellers of Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat (went) before them, into Jerusalem with great gladness; for the Lord God had given to them (the) joy of their enemies. (And each man of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat going before them, returned to Jerusalem with great gladness; for the Lord God had given them victory over their enemies/for the Lord God had given them joy over their enemies’ defeat.)
28 And they entered into Jerusalem with psalteries, and harps, and trumps, into the house of the Lord. (And they entered into Jerusalem with lutes, and harps, and trumpets, and went to the House of the Lord.)
29 Forsooth the dread of the Lord felled on all the realms of (the) lands, when they had heard, that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 And the realm of Jehoshaphat rested from war; and the Lord gave peace to him all about.
31 And Jehoshaphat reigned upon Judah; and he was of five and thirty years, when he began to reign; and he reigned five and twenty years in Jerusalem; and the name of his mother was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.
32 And he went in the way of Asa his father, and bowed not from it, and he did whatever things were pleasant before the Lord. (And he went in the way of his father Asa, and turned not from it, and he did whatever things were pleasing in the sight of the Lord.)
33 Nevertheless he did not away the high places; and yet the people had not (ad)dressed their heart to the Lord God of their fathers. (But still he did not do away the hill shrines; and the people had not yet directed their hearts toward the Lord God of their fathers.)
34 Forsooth the residue of the former and the last deeds of Jehoshaphat be written in the book of Jehu, the son of Hanani, which he ordained in the book of [the] kings of Israel. (And the rest of the first and the last deeds of Jehoshaphat be written in The Book of Jehu, the son of Hanani, which is part of The Book of the Kings of Israel.)
35 After these things Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, made friendships with Ahaziah, king of Israel, whose works were full evil/were most evil;
36 and he was partner to him, and they made ships, which should go into Tarshish; and they made one ship (to go) into Eziongaber. (and he was his partner, and they made ships in order to go to Tarshish; and they built the ships at Eziongaber.)
37 And Eliezer, the son of Dodavah, of Mareshah, prophesied to Jehoshaphat, and said, For thou hast had bond of peace with Ahaziah, the Lord hath destroyed thy works; and the ships be broken, and [they] might not go into Tarshish (But Eliezer, the son of Dodavah, of Mareshah, prophesied to Jehoshaphat, and said, For thou hast had a covenant with Ahaziah, the Lord shall destroy thy works; and so the ships were destroyed, and they never did go to Tarshish.)
