⁴ For the ^(A)weapons of ^(B)our warfare are not of the flesh but have ^(C)divine power ^(D)to destroy strongholds.

⁷ by ^(A)truthful speech, and ^(B)the power of God; with ^(C)the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

¹³ Therefore ^(A)take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in ^(B)the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, ^(C)having fastened on the belt of truth, and ^(D)having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and, ^(E)as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In all circumstances take up ^(F)the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all ^(G)the flaming darts of ^(H)the evil one; ¹⁷ and take ^(I)the helmet of salvation, and ^(J)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, ¹⁸ praying ^(K)at all times ^(L)in the Spirit, ^(M)with all prayer and supplication. To that end, ^(N)keep alert with all perseverance, making ^(O)supplication for all the saints,

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with ^(A)a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, ^(B)whom you have defied. ⁴⁶ This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. ^(C)And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day ^(D)to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, ^(E)that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, ⁴⁷ and that all this assembly may know that ^(F)the Lord saves not with sword and spear. ^(G)For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand.”

⁴⁸ When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. ⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.

⁵⁰ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David.

⁵ so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men^[a] but ^(A)in the power of God.

¹⁸ This charge ^(A)I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with ^(B)the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may ^(C)wage the good warfare,

³ since you seek proof that Christ ^(A)is speaking in me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but ^(B)is powerful among you. ⁴ For ^(C)he was crucified in weakness, but ^(D)lives by the power of God. For ^(E)we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you ^(F)we will live with him by the power of God.

^12 (A)The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us ^(B)cast off ^(C)the works of darkness and ^(D)put on the armor of light.
