Asaliya ne Yekoyaasi

11 (A)Awo Asaliya nnyina Akaziya bwe yalaba mutabani we ng’afudde, n’atandika okusaanyaawo olulyo olulangira lwonna. 2 (B)Naye omumbejja Yekoseba muwala wa kabaka Yolaamu mwannyina Akaziya n’abba Yekoyaasi[a] n’amuggya mu balangira abaali bagenda okuttibwa, n’abateeka ye n’omukuza we mu kisenge ekimu ng’abakweka Asaliya, era Yekoyaasi n’atattibwa. 3 N’abeera mu yeekaalu ya Mukama n’omukuza we okumala emyaka mukaaga, Asaliya nga y’afuga ensi.

4 (C)Mu mwaka ogw’omusanvu Yekoyaada n’atumya abaduumizi ab’ebibinja by’ekikumi, ab’oku Bakali n’abakuumi, ne babaleeta gy’ali mu yeekaalu ya Mukama. N’alagaana nabo endagaano, n’abalayiriza mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, n’oluvannyuma n’abalaga mutabani wa kabaka. 5 (D)N’abawa ebiragiro bino nti, “Kino kye muteekwa okukola: kimu kya kusatu ku kibinja ekikuuma ku ssabbiiti, kye kinaakuumanga olubiri lwa kabaka, 6 n’ekimu kya kusatu ekirala ne kikuuma Omulyango Suuli, n’ekimu kya kusatu ekirala ne kikuuma emanju w’omulyango ewabeera abakuumi abakuuma yeekaalu mu mpalo; 7 n’ebibiina byammwe ebibiri ebitatera kukuuma ku ssabbiiti, mwenna mugenda kuvunaanyizibwa okukuuma yeekaalu ya Mukama ku lwa kabaka. 8 Era muneetooloola kabaka enjuuyi zonna, buli muntu ng’akutte ebyokulwanyisa bye mu mukono gwe, ne buli anaŋŋaanga okubasemberera attibwe. Mukuumenga kabaka butiribiri, bw’anaafulumanga ne bw’anaayingiranga.”

9 Abaduumizi ab’ebibinja b’ekikumi ne bakola byonna nga Yekoyaada kabona bwe yalagira, buli omu n’afuna abasajja be, abaali ab’okukola ku ssabbiiti, n’abaali bamaze oluwalo lwabwe, ne bajja eri Yekoyaada kabona. 10 (E)Kabona n’awa abaduumizi amafumu n’engabo ebyali ebya kabaka Dawudi, ebyali mu yeekaalu ya Mukama, 11 buli mukuumi n’ayimirira n’ebyokulwanyisa bye nga beetoolodde kabaka enjuuyi zonna, okuliraana ekyoto ne yeekaalu okuva ku luuyi olw’obukiikaddyo okutuuka ku luuyi olw’obukiikakkono.

12 (F)Awo Yekoyaada n’afulumya mutabani wa kabaka, n’amutikkira engule, n’amuwa n’endagaano gye baali bakoze, ne bamufuula kabaka. N’afukibwako amafuta, abantu ne bakuba mu ngalo nga bwe bayogera mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, “Wangaala kabaka!” 13 Asaliya bwe yawulira oluyoogaano lw’abakuumi n’olw’abantu, n’alaga eri abantu ku yeekaalu ya Mukama. 14 (G)Bwe yatunula, laba, nga kabaka ayimiridde awali empagi, ng’empisa bwe yabanga, n’abaami n’abafuuwa amakondeere nga bayimiridde okuliraana kabaka, n’abantu bonna ab’omu nsi nga basanyuka era nga bwe bafuuwa amakondeere. Awo Asaliya n’ayuza ebyambalo bye, n’aleekaanira waggulu nti, “Bujeemu, bujeemu!”

15 (H)Amangwago Yekoyaada kabona n’alagira abaduumizi ab’ebibinja b’ekikumi, abaali bakulira eggye nti, “Mumufulumye wakati w’ennyiriri, na buli amugoberera mumutte n’ekitala.” Kabona yali agambye nti, “Temumuttira mu yeekaalu ya Mukama.” 16 (I)Ne bakwata Asaliya, ng’anaatera okuyita mu mulyango gw’embalaasi w’eziyingira mu luggya lw’olubiri, ne bamuttira awo.

17 (J)Awo Yekoyaada n’akola endagaano ne Mukama, ne kabaka n’abantu, nti banaabeera abantu ba Mukama, era n’akola n’endagaano ne kabaka n’abantu. 18 (K)Abantu bonna ab’omu nsi ne bagenda ku ssabo lya Baali ne balimenyaamenya; ne bamenyaamenya ebyoto n’ebifaananyi, era ne battira Matani kabona wa Baali mu maaso g’ebyoto ebyo.

Yekoyaada kabona n’ateekawo abakuumi ku yeekaalu ya Mukama. 19 (L)Awo n’alaga n’abaduumizi ab’ebibinja b’ekikumi, n’Abakali, n’abakuumi, n’abantu bonna ab’omu nsi ku yeekaalu, n’aggyayo kabaka mu yeekaalu ya Mukama n’amutwala mu lubiri ng’ayita mu mulyango ogw’abakuumi. Kabaka n’atuula ku ntebe ey’obwakabaka, 20 (M)abantu bonna ab’omu nsi ne bajaguza, n’ekibuga n’ekitereera, kubanga Asaliya yali attiddwa n’ekitala okumpi n’olubiri.

21 Yekoyaasi yali aweza emyaka musanvu bwe yatandika okufuga.

Athaliah Reigns over Judah

11 (A)Now Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son had died. So she rose and caused all the royal seed to perish. 2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, (B)took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king’s sons who were being put to death, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death. 3 So he was hidden away with her in the house of Yahweh six years, while Athaliah was reigning over the land.

4 (C)Now in the seventh year Jehoiada sent for and took the commanders of hundreds of (D)the Carites and of the [a]guard, and brought them to him in the house of Yahweh. Then he cut a covenant with them and had them swear in the house of Yahweh, and showed them the king’s son. 5 And he commanded them, saying, “This is the thing that you shall do: (E)one-third of you, who come in on the sabbath and keep watch over the king’s house 6 (one-third also shall be at the gate Sur, and one-third at the gate behind the [b]guards), [c]shall keep watch over the house for defense. 7 And two parts of you, even all who go out on the sabbath, shall also keep watch over the house of Yahweh for the king. 8 And you shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes within the ranks shall be put to death. And (F)be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in.”

9 So the commanders of hundreds (G)did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each one of them took his men who were to come in on the sabbath, with those who were to go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. 10 (H)Then the priest gave to the commanders of hundreds the spears and small shields that had been King David’s, which were in the house of Yahweh. 11 And the [d]guards stood each with his weapons in his hand, from the right [e]side of the house to the left [f]side of the house, by the altar and by the house, around the king. 12 Then he brought the king’s son out and (I)put the crown on him and gave him (J)the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, “(K)Long live the king!”

13 (L)Then Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, and she came to the people in the house of Yahweh. 14 And she looked, and behold, the king was standing (M)by the pillar, according to the custom, with the commanders and the [g]trumpeters beside the king; and (N)all the people of the land were glad and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah (O)tore her clothes and cried, “(P)Treason! Treason!” 15 And Jehoiada the priest commanded the commanders of hundreds who were appointed over the military force and said to them, “Bring her out [h]between the ranks, and whoever follows her put to death with the sword.” For the priest said, “Let her not be put to death in the house of Yahweh.” 16 So they [i]laid hands on her, and she arrived at the horses’ entrance of the king’s house and was (Q)put to death there.

17 Then (R)Jehoiada cut a covenant between Yahweh and the king and the people, that they would be the people of Yahweh, also (S)between the king and the people. 18 And all the people of the land came to (T)the house of Baal and tore it down; (U)his altars and his images they broke in pieces thoroughly, and they (V)killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed [j]overseers over the house of Yahweh. 19 And he took the commanders of hundreds and the (W)Carites and the [k]guards and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of Yahweh, and came by the way of (X)the gate of the [l]guards to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings. 20 So (Y)all the people of the land were glad, and the city was quiet. For they had put Athaliah to death with the sword at the king’s house.

21 [m](Z)Jehoash was seven years old when he became king.
