^23 (A)Now Joab was over the whole army of Israel, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites;

¹⁹ And he took the commanders of hundreds and the ^(A)Carites and the ^[a]guards and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of Yahweh, and came by the way of ^(B)the gate of the ^[b]guards to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
