23 ¶ Men dènye pawòl David yo. David, pitit gason Izayi a, te yon nonm Bondye te mete byen wo. Se li menm Bondye Jakòb la te chwazi pou wa. Li te fè bèl chante pou pèp Izrayèl la. Men sa li te di:
2 Se lespri Seyè a k'ap pale nan mwen. Se mesaj li k'ap soti nan bouch mwen.
3 Bondye pèp Izrayèl la pale. Moun k'ap pwoteje pèp Izrayèl la di m' konsa: Chèf k'ap gouvènen san patipri, k'ap gouvènen avèk krentif pou Bondye,
4 ap tankou solèy k'ap leve byen klere nan maten, nan yon syèl klè san yon ti nwaj ladan l'. L'ap tankou solèy k'ap fè zèb pouse apre lapli.
5 Se konsa Bondye pral beni tout ras mwen, paske li te pase yon kontra avè m' pou tout tan, yon kontra ki p'ap janm kase, yon pwomès ki p'ap janm chanje. Nan tout sikonstans l'ap fè m' genyen. L'ap ban mwen tou sa mwen vle.
6 Men, moun ki pa konn Bondye yo, y'ap tankou pikan y'ap voye jete. Pesonn p'ap manyen yo ak men.
7 Pou manyen yo se pou ou gen yon bout fè osinon yon frenn. Lèfini, ou boule yo nèt nan dife.
8 ¶ Men non vanyan sòlda David yo: Premye a te rele Jochèb Bachebèt, moun lavil Tachemon. Se li menm ki te chèf Twa pi vanyan yo. Pou kont li, li goumen ak frenn li ak witsan (800) moun. Li touye tout yon sèl kou.
9 Dezyèm lan te rele Eleaza, pitit Dodo, pitit yon moun lavil Awoya. Se te yonn nan Twa pi vanyan yo. Yon jou, li menm ak David, y' al atake moun Filisti yo ki te sanble pou goumen. Sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo te kouri pou batay la.
10 Men, li menm, li kenbe tèt ak moun Filisti yo, li touye moun jouk li gen lakranp nan men l'. Li pa t' ka louvri men l' pou l' lage nepe a. Jou sa a, Seyè a goumen byen goumen jouk li touye tout lènmi yo. Apre sa, lame pèp Izrayèl la tounen kote Eleaza te ye a, yo pran tou sa lènmi yo te kite.
11 Twazyèm lan te rele Chama, pitit gason Age, moun lavil Ara. Yon jou, moun Filisti yo te sanble lavil Lechi, kote ki te gen yon gwo jaden pwa. Sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo t'ap kouri pou moun Filisti yo.
12 Men Chama rete kanpe nan mitan jaden pwa a, li kenbe tèt ak moun Filisti yo, li bat yo byen bat. Se konsa Seyè a te goumen byen goumen jouk li touye tout lènmi yo.
13 Yon lòt jou, nan sezon rekòt, twa nan gwoup trant yo al jwenn David nan gwòt Adoulam lan. Lame moun Filisti yo te moute kan yo nan plenn Refrayim yo.
14 Lè sa a, David te nan ti fò a. Yon gwoup moun Filisti te pran lavil Betleyèm.
15 Yon sèl anvi pran David, li di konsa: Ki moun ki va fè m' bwè ti gout dlo nan pi ki nan pòtay lavil Betleyèm lan?
16 Lamenm, twa mesye yo desann nan kan moun Filisti yo, yo pran dlo nan pi ki te nan pòtay lavil Betleyèm lan, yo pote l' vin bay David. Men, David refize bwè dlo a. Li vide l' atè, li ofri l' bay Seyè a.
17 Li di konsa: Seyè, mwen pa gen dwa bwè dlo sa a. Se tankou si m' ta bwè san mesye sa yo ki te riske lavi yo pou al chache l'. Se konsa li derefize bwè dlo a. Se sa twa vanyan sòlda sa yo te fè.
18 Abichayi, frè Joab, pitit Sewouja, te chèf gwoup trant yo. Pou kont li, avèk yon frenn nan men l', li goumen ak twasan (300) moun, li touye yo. Se konsa, tout moun t'ap nonmen non l' nan gwoup trant lan.
19 Se non li yo t'ap nonmen pi plis nan Trant yo. Apre sa, li vin chèf yo. Men, li pa janm rive fè sa Twa pi vanyan yo te fè.
20 Benaja, pitit gason Jeojada a, moun lavil Kabseyèl, te pitit pitit yon vanyan sòlda. Li te fè anpil bagay ki fè wè li pa t' manke kouraj. Se li menm ki te touye de pitit Ariyèl yo, moun lavil Moab. Yon jou, lanèj t'ap tonbe, li desann nan yon sitèn dlo pou li touye yon lyon.
21 Se li menm ki te touye yon moun peyi Lejip, yon potorik gason bèl wotè, ki te gen yon frenn nan men l'. Li menm, li atake l' ak yon baton ase. Li wete frenn lan nan men moun Lejip la epi li touye l' avè l'.
22 Men sa Benaja, pitit gason Jeojada a, te fè. Se konsa tout moun t'ap nonmen non l' nan gwoup Trant lan.
23 Se non li yo t'ap nonmen pi plis nan Trant yo. Apre sa, li vin chèf yo. Men, li pa t' janm rive fè sa twa pi vanyan yo te fè. David te mete l' chèf gad kò li.

23 Voici les dernières paroles de David :
Voici ce que déclare |David, fils d’Isaï,
cet homme haut placé,
qui a reçu l’onction |de la part du Dieu de Jacob,
oui, voici les paroles |qu’Israël se plaît à chanter[a].
2 L’Esprit de l’Eternel |s’est exprimé par moi,
ses paroles sont sur ma langue.
3 Le Dieu d’Israël a parlé,
le rocher d’Israël m’a dit :
Le juste gouverneur des hommes
qui gouverne avec la crainte de Dieu
4 est pareil au soleil |qui se lève au matin
et répand sa lumière |dans un ciel sans nuage,
et la verdure sort de terre |par ses rayons et par la pluie.
5 N’en est-il pas ainsi |de ma dynastie devant Dieu,
puisqu’il a conclu avec moi |une alliance éternelle,
en tout bien établie |et qu’il respectera toujours ?
En toutes circonstances, |il œuvre à mon salut,
il accomplit tous mes désirs.
6 Mais les vauriens sont tous |pareils à des épines |que l’on rejette au loin.
On ne les saisit pas |avec une main nue,
7 celui qui veut les prendre
se munit d’un crochet de fer |ou du bois d’une lance,
et il les jette au feu, |pour les brûler sur place.
Les valeureux guerriers de David(A)
8 Voici les noms des guerriers de David : Le premier est Yosheb-Bashébeth le Tahkmonite, il était chef du groupe des trois. C’est lui qui[b], avec son javelot, tua huit cents hommes au cours d’un seul combat.
9 Le second était Eléazar, fils de Dodo et petit-fils d’Ahohi. Il était l’un des trois guerriers qui accompagnèrent David lorsqu’il défia les Philistins rassemblés[c] pour la bataille. Déjà, les hommes d’Israël battaient en retraite et gagnaient les hauteurs, 10 mais lui tint bon et frappa les Philistins jusqu’à ce que sa main fût engourdie et resta crispée sur la poignée de son épée. Ce jour-là, l’Eternel accorda une grande victoire à Israël ; les Israélites n’eurent plus qu’à revenir derrière Eléazar pour s’emparer des dépouilles.
11 Après lui vient Shamma, fils d’Agué de Harar. Les Philistins s’étaient rassemblés à Léhi. Il y avait là un champ couvert de lentilles. Les Israélites avaient pris la fuite devant les Philistins, 12 mais Shamma prit position au milieu du champ, le libéra et frappa les Philistins. Ainsi l’Eternel accorda une victoire éclatante à Israël.
13 Un jour, au début du temps de la moisson, trois membres du groupe des trente vinrent trouver David dans la caverne d’Adoullam[d], tandis qu’une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Rephaïm. 14 David se trouvait alors dans son refuge fortifié et un poste de Philistins occupait Bethléhem.
15 David fut soudain pris d’un brûlant désir et s’écria : Qui me fera boire de l’eau du puits qui se trouve à la porte de Bethléhem ?
16 Alors les trois guerriers pénétrèrent dans le camp des Philistins et puisèrent de l’eau au puits qui est à la porte de Bethléhem. Ils l’apportèrent et la présentèrent à David ; mais il ne voulut pas en boire, et il la répandit en libation pour l’Eternel. 17 Il s’exclama : Que l’Eternel me garde de faire pareille chose ! Cette eau représente le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés là-bas au péril de leur vie.
Il refusa donc de la boire. Tel fut l’exploit de ces trois guerriers.
18 Abishaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tserouya, était le chef de ce groupe de trois. Un jour, il brandit son javelot contre trois cents hommes et les tua. Ainsi, il devint célèbre parmi le second groupe des trois. 19 Il était le plus considéré parmi ces trois et devint leur chef ; mais il n’égala pas les trois du premier groupe.
20 Benaya de Qabtséel, fils de Yehoyada et petit-fils d’un homme valeureux qui avait accompli[e] de nombreux exploits, tua deux puissants héros moabites. C’est lui aussi qui, un jour de neige, descendit au fond d’une citerne pour y tuer un lion. 21 C’est encore lui qui tua un Egyptien de taille impressionnante armé d’un javelot. Il bondit sur lui, armé d’un simple bâton, et lui arracha son javelot dont il se servit pour le tuer. 22 Tels furent les exploits de Benaya, fils de Yehoyada, qui se fit une renommée parmi le second groupe des trois. 23 Il fut le plus estimé parmi les trente, mais sans égaler ceux du premier groupe des trois. David lui confia le commandement de sa garde personnelle.
24 Le groupe des trente comprenait aussi Asaël, frère de Joab, Elhanân, fils de Dodo de Bethléhem, 25 Shamma et Eliqa, tous deux de Harod, 26 Hélets de Péleth, Ira, fils d’Iqqesh de Teqoa, 27 Abiézer d’Anatoth, Mebounnaï de Housha, 28 Tsalmôn, d’Ahoah, Maharaï, de Netopha, 29 Héleb[f], fils de Baana, de Netopha, Ittaï, fils de Ribaï, de Guibéa en Benjamin, 30 Benaya, de Piratôn, Hiddaï[g], de Nahalé-Gaash, 31 Abi-Albôn, de la vallée du Jourdain[h], Azmaveth, de Barhoum, 32 Eliahba de Shaalbôn, Bené-Yashên, Jonathan, 33 Shamma[i], de Harar, Ahiam, fils de Sharar[j], d’Arar, 34 Eliphéleth, fils de Ahasbaï, fils d’un Maakathien, Eliam, fils d’Ahitophel, de Guilo, 35 Hetsraï, de Karmel, Paaraï, d’Arab, 36 Yiguéal, fils de Nathan, de Tsoba, Bani de Gad[k], 37 Tséleq, l’Ammonite, Nahraï, de Beéroth, qui portait les armes de Joab, fils de Tserouya, 38 Ira et Gareb, tous deux de Yéter, 39 et Urie, le Hittite[l]. 2 L'esprit de l'Éternel parle par moi, Et sa parole est sur ma langue.
3 Le Dieu d'Israël a parlé, Le rocher d'Israël m'a dit: Celui qui règne parmi les hommes avec justice, Celui qui règne dans la crainte de Dieu,
4 Est pareil à la lumière du matin, quand le soleil brille Et que la matinée est sans nuages; Ses rayons après la pluie font sortir de terre la verdure.
5 N'en est-il pas ainsi de ma maison devant Dieu, Puisqu'il a fait avec moi une alliance éternelle, En tous points bien réglée et offrant pleine sécurité? Ne fera-t-il pas germer tout mon salut et tous mes désirs?
6 Mais les méchants sont tous comme des épines que l'on rejette, Et que l'on ne prend pas avec la main;
7 Celui qui les touche s'arme d'un fer ou du bois d'une lance, Et on les brûle au feu sur place.
8 Voici les noms des vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David. Joscheb Basschébeth, le Tachkemonite, l'un des principaux officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur huit cents hommes, qu'il fit périr en une seule fois.
9 Après lui, Éléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d'Achochi. Il était l'un des trois guerriers qui affrontèrent avec David les Philistins rassemblés pour combattre, tandis que les hommes d'Israël se retiraient sur les hauteurs.
10 Il se leva, et frappa les Philistins jusqu'à ce que sa main fût lasse et qu'elle restât attachée à son épée. L'Éternel opéra une grande délivrance ce jour-là. Le peuple revint après Éléazar, seulement pour prendre les dépouilles.

23 These are the last words of David:
“The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse,
the utterance of the man exalted(A) by the Most High,
the man anointed(B) by the God of Jacob,
the hero of Israel’s songs:
2 “The Spirit(C) of the Lord spoke through me;
his word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel spoke,
the Rock(D) of Israel said to me:
‘When one rules over people in righteousness,(E)
when he rules in the fear(F) of God,(G)
4 he is like the light(H) of morning(I) at sunrise(J)
on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain(K)
that brings grass from the earth.’
5 “If my house were not right with God,
surely he would not have made with me an everlasting covenant,(L)
arranged and secured in every part;
surely he would not bring to fruition my salvation
and grant me my every desire.
6 But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns,(M)
which are not gathered with the hand.
7 Whoever touches thorns
uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear;
they are burned up where they lie.”

8 These are the names of David’s mighty warriors:(O)
Josheb-Basshebeth,[a](P) a Tahkemonite,[b] was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed[c] in one encounter.
9 Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai(Q) the Ahohite.(R) As one of the three mighty warriors, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim[d] for battle. Then the Israelites retreated, 10 but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead.
11 Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory.
13 During harvest time, three of the thirty chief warriors came down to David at the cave of Adullam,(S) while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.(T) 14 At that time David was in the stronghold,(U) and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem.(V) 15 David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!” 16 So the three mighty warriors broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured(W) it out before the Lord. 17 “Far be it from me, Lord, to do this!” he said. “Is it not the blood(X) of men who went at the risk of their lives?” And David would not drink it.
Such were the exploits of the three mighty warriors.
18 Abishai(Y) the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three.[e] He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three. 19 Was he not held in greater honor than the Three? He became their commander, even though he was not included among them.
20 Benaiah(Z) son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel,(AA) performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. 21 And he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear. 22 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he too was as famous as the three mighty warriors. 23 He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty, but he was not included among the Three. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard.
24 Among the Thirty were:

2 L’Esprit de l’Eternel |s’est exprimé par moi,
ses paroles sont sur ma langue.
3 Le Dieu d’Israël a parlé,
le rocher d’Israël m’a dit :
Le juste gouverneur des hommes
qui gouverne avec la crainte de Dieu
4 est pareil au soleil |qui se lève au matin

Les valeureux guerriers de David(A)
8 Voici les noms des guerriers de David : Le premier est Yosheb-Bashébeth le Tahkmonite, il était chef du groupe des trois. C’est lui qui[b], avec son javelot, tua huit cents hommes au cours d’un seul combat.
9 Le second était Eléazar, fils de Dodo et petit-fils d’Ahohi. Il était l’un des trois guerriers qui accompagnèrent David lorsqu’il défia les Philistins rassemblés[c] pour la bataille. Déjà, les hommes d’Israël battaient en retraite et gagnaient les hauteurs, 10 mais lui tint bon et frappa les Philistins jusqu’à ce que sa main fût engourdie et resta crispée sur la poignée de son épée. Ce jour-là, l’Eternel accorda une grande victoire à Israël ; les Israélites n’eurent plus qu’à revenir derrière Eléazar pour s’emparer des dépouilles.
11 Après lui vient Shamma, fils d’Agué de Harar. Les Philistins s’étaient rassemblés à Léhi. Il y avait là un champ couvert de lentilles. Les Israélites avaient pris la fuite devant les Philistins, 12 mais Shamma prit position au milieu du champ, le libéra et frappa les Philistins. Ainsi l’Eternel accorda une victoire éclatante à Israël.
13 Un jour, au début du temps de la moisson, trois membres du groupe des trente vinrent trouver David dans la caverne d’Adoullam[d], tandis qu’une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Rephaïm. 14 David se trouvait alors dans son refuge fortifié et un poste de Philistins occupait Bethléhem.
15 David fut soudain pris d’un brûlant désir et s’écria : Qui me fera boire de l’eau du puits qui se trouve à la porte de Bethléhem ?
16 Alors les trois guerriers pénétrèrent dans le camp des Philistins et puisèrent de l’eau au puits qui est à la porte de Bethléhem. Ils l’apportèrent et la présentèrent à David ; mais il ne voulut pas en boire, et il la répandit en libation pour l’Eternel. 17 Il s’exclama : Que l’Eternel me garde de faire pareille chose ! Cette eau représente le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés là-bas au péril de leur vie.
Il refusa donc de la boire. Tel fut l’exploit de ces trois guerriers.
18 Abishaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tserouya, était le chef de ce groupe de trois. Un jour, il brandit son javelot contre trois cents hommes et les tua. Ainsi, il devint célèbre parmi le second groupe des trois. 19 Il était le plus considéré parmi ces trois et devint leur chef ; mais il n’égala pas les trois du premier groupe.
20 Benaya de Qabtséel, fils de Yehoyada et petit-fils d’un homme valeureux qui avait accompli[e] de nombreux exploits, tua deux puissants héros moabites. C’est lui aussi qui, un jour de neige, descendit au fond d’une citerne pour y tuer un lion. 21 C’est encore lui qui tua un Egyptien de taille impressionnante armé d’un javelot. Il bondit sur lui, armé d’un simple bâton, et lui arracha son javelot dont il se servit pour le tuer. 22 Tels furent les exploits de Benaya, fils de Yehoyada, qui se fit une renommée parmi le second groupe des trois. 23 Il fut le plus estimé parmi les trente, mais sans égaler ceux du premier groupe des trois. “The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse,
the utterance of the man exalted(A) by the Most High,
the man anointed(B) by the God of Jacob,
the hero of Israel’s songs:
2 “The Spirit(C) of the Lord spoke through me;
his word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel spoke,
the Rock(D) of Israel said to me:
‘When one rules over people in righteousness,(E)
when he rules in the fear(F) of God,(G)
4 he is like the light(H) of morning(I) at sunrise(J)
on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain(K)

When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory.
13 During harvest time, three of the thirty chief warriors came down to David at the cave of Adullam,(S) while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.(T) 14 At that time David was in the stronghold,(U) and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem.(V) 15 David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!” 16 So the three mighty warriors broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. He became their commander, even though he was not included among them.
20 Benaiah(Z) son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel,(AA) performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. 21 And he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club.
