20 Yna y dywedodd Absalom wrth Ahitoffel, Moeswch eich cyngor beth a wnawn ni. 21 Ac Ahitoffel a ddywedodd wrth Absalom, Dos i mewn at ordderchwragedd dy dad, y rhai a adawodd efe i gadw y tŷ: pan glywo holl Israel dy fod yn ffiaidd gan dy dad, yna y cryfheir llaw y rhai oll sydd gyda thi. 22 Felly y taenasant i Absalom babell ar nen y tŷ: ac Absalom a aeth i mewn at ordderchwragedd ei dad, yng ngŵydd holl Israel. 23 A chyngor Ahitoffel, yr hwn a gynghorai efe yn y dyddiau hynny, oedd fel ped ymofynnai un â gair Duw: felly yr oedd holl gyngor Ahitoffel, gyda Dafydd a chydag Absalom.

20 Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give us your advice. What should we do?”

21 Ahithophel answered, “Sleep with your father’s concubines whom he left to take care of the palace. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself obnoxious to your father, and the hands of everyone with you will be more resolute.” 22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.(A)

23 Now in those days the advice(B) Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David(C) and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice.
