⁴² A man came from ^(A)Baal-shalishah, ^(B)bringing the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And Elisha said, ^(C)“Give to the men, that they may eat.”

⁸ the king said to ^(A)Hazael, ^(B)“Take a present with you and go to meet the man of God, ^(C)and inquire of the Lord through him, saying, ‘Shall I recover from this sickness?’” ⁹ So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, all kinds of goods of Damascus, forty camels' loads. When he came and stood before him, he said, ^(D)“Your son Ben-hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Shall I recover from this sickness?’”

⁷ Then Saul said to his servant, “But if we go, ^(A)what can we bring the man? For the bread in our sacks is gone, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?”
