10 Josiah ruined Topheth, in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, so no one could sacrifice his son or daughter to Molech. 11 Judah’s kings had placed horses at the front door of the Temple of the Lord in the courtyard near the room of Nathan-Melech, an officer. These horses were for the worship of the sun. So Josiah removed them and burned the chariots that were for sun worship also.
12 The kings of Judah had built altars on the roof[a] of the upstairs room of Ahaz. Josiah broke down these altars and the altars Manasseh had made in the two courtyards of the Temple of the Lord. Josiah smashed them to pieces and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.

- 23:12 roof In Bible times houses were built with flat roofs. The roof was used for drying things such as flax and fruit. And it was used as an extra room, as a place for worship, and as a cool place to sleep in the summer.

10 He desecrated Topheth,(A) which was in the Valley of Ben Hinnom,(B) so no one could use it to sacrifice their son(C) or daughter in the fire to Molek. 11 He removed from the entrance to the temple of the Lord the horses that the kings of Judah(D) had dedicated to the sun. They were in the court[a] near the room of an official named Nathan-Melek. Josiah then burned the chariots dedicated to the sun.(E)
12 He pulled down(F) the altars the kings of Judah had erected on the roof(G) near the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts(H) of the temple of the Lord. He removed them from there, smashed them to pieces and threw the rubble into the Kidron Valley.(I)
