^17 (A)Therefore He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans who killed their choice men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on choice man or virgin, old man or infirm; He gave them all into his hand.

⁵ But to the others He said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity and do not spare. ^6 (A)Kill to utter destruction old men, chosen men, virgins, little ones, and women, but do not ^(B)touch any man on whom is the mark; and you shall ^(C)start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the ^[a]elders who were before the house.

⁹ And it will be, if ^(A)ten men are left in one house, they will die. ¹⁰ Then one’s ^[a]uncle, or the one who ^[b](B)burns his bones, will lift him up to bring out his bones from the house, and he will say to the one who is in the innermost part of the house, “Is anyone else with you?” And that one will say, “No one.” Then he will ^[c]answer, “^(C)Keep quiet. For ^[d]the name of Yahweh is ^(D)not to be mentioned.”
