⁷ Now therefore, behold, the Lord is about to bring on them the ^(A)mighty and abundant waters of the ^[a](B)River—
The ^(C)king of Assyria and all his glory;
And it will ^(D)rise up over all its channels and go over all its banks.
⁸ Then ^(E)it will sweep on into Judah; it will overflow and pass through;
It will ^(F)reach even to the neck;
And the spread of its wings will ^[b]fill the breadth of ^[c]Your land, O ^(G)Immanuel.

⁵ Woe to ^(A)Assyria, the ^(B)rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hands is ^(C)My indignation,
⁶ I send it against a ^(D)godless nation
And command it against the ^(E)people of My fury
To capture spoil and ^(F)to seize plunder,
And to ^[a]trample them down like ^(G)mud in the streets.
