3 Ja też, bracia, nie mogłem mówić do was jak do ludzi duchowych. Mówiłem jak do cielesnych, jak do niemowląt w Chrystusie. 2 Podawałem wam mleko, a nie pokarm stały, bo nie mogliście go przyjąć. Teraz również nie możecie, 3 gdyż pozostajecie cieleśni. Cóż, skoro jest wśród was zazdrość, dochodzi do kłótni, to czy nie jesteście cieleśni i nie postępujecie po ludzku? 4 Kiedy jeden mówi: Ja należę do Pawła, drugi: Ja do Apollosa, to czy nie jesteście ludźmi?
5 Kim jest Apollos? I kim Paweł? Narzędziami, dzięki którym uwierzyliście. Każdy zrobił to, co mu wyznaczył Pan. 6 Ja zasadziłem, Apollos podlał, lecz wzrost był sprawą Boga. 7 Nie liczy się zatem ten, kto sadzi, ani ten, kto podlewa, tylko Bóg, który daje wzrost. 8 Między tym, który sadzi, i tym, który podlewa, nie ma wielkiej różnicy — stosownie do swego wysiłku każdy odbierze zapłatę. 9 My, jako należący do Boga, jesteśmy współpracownikami; a wy — Bożą rolą oraz Jego budowlą.
10 Według udzielonej mi przez Boga łaski, jako mądry mistrz budowlany, położyłem fundament. Inni na nim budują. I niech każdy uważa, jak buduje. 11 Co do fundamentu, nikt nie może położyć innego, poza tym, który już jest, a którym jest Jezus Chrystus.
12 Natomiast, czy ktoś na tym fundamencie buduje ze złota, srebra, drogich kamieni, z drewna, siana czy słomy, 13 to się okaże w tym[a] Dniu. Każde dzieło przejdzie próbę ognia i w ten sposób wyjdzie na jaw jego wartość. 14 Jeśli czyjeś dzieło, wzniesione na tym fundamencie, przetrwa, ten otrzyma nagrodę. 15 Jeśli czyjeś dzieło spłonie, ten poniesie stratę, choć sam będzie zbawiony, tak jednak, jakby został ocalony z ognia.
16 Czy nie wiecie, że jesteście przybytkiem Boga i że Duch Boży mieszka w was? 17 Jeśli ktoś niszczy przybytek Boga, tego zniszczy Bóg, gdyż przybytek Boga jest święty, a wy właśnie nim jesteście.
18 Niech nikt samego siebie nie oszukuje. Jeśli ktoś z was uważa, że jest mądry w obecnym wieku, niech się stanie głupi, aby zmądrzeć. 19 Gdyż mądrość tego świata jest głupstwem u Boga. Napisane jest bowiem:
On chwyta mądrych
w sidła ich przebiegłości;
20 a także:
Pan zna rozważania mądrych,
wie, że są jałowe.
21 A zatem niech się nikt nie chlubi jakimkolwiek człowiekiem. Wszystko bowiem jest wasze: 22 Paweł, Apollos, Kefas, świat, życie i śmierć, teraźniejszość i przyszłość — wszystko należy do was. 23 Wy zaś do Chrystusa, a Chrystus — do Boga.

O podziałach w kościele
3 Przyjaciele, będąc między wami, nie mogłem mówić do was jak do ludzi duchowo dojrzałych. Traktowałem was jak myślących tylko po ludzku, bo w waszej wierze w Chrystusa byliście na poziomie niemowląt. 2 Karmiłem was mlekiem, a nie stałym pokarmem, bo jeszcze nie byliście na to gotowi. Z resztą nadal nie jesteście! 3 Ciągle żyjecie tylko po ludzku! Skoro się kłócicie i zazdrościcie sobie, to czy nie zachowujecie się tylko po ludzku, czyli tak samo, jak ludzie niewierzący? 4 Czy dowodem na to nie są wasze słowa: „Ja jestem uczniem Pawła”, „A ja—Apollosa”?
5 Kim jesteśmy ja i Apollos, żeby się o nas kłócić? Tylko sługami Pana, którym powierzył zadanie. 6 Ja siałem, Apollos podlewał, ale to Bóg dawał duchowy wzrost. 7 Tak naprawdę to ani siejący, ani podlewający nie jest ważny—tylko Bóg, który powoduje wzrost. 8 A słudzy Pana—czy sieją, czy podlewają—pracują wspólnie i każdy z nich otrzyma nagrodę za swoją pracę. 9 Jesteśmy bowiem współpracownikami Boga, a wy—Bożą uprawą i Bożą budowlą.
10 Dzięki łasce Boga, jako doświadczony budowniczy, położyłem fundament, na którym kolejny fachowiec wznosi budowlę. Każdy jednak niech buduje uważnie, 11 bo nie można już położyć innego fundamentu. Jedynym fundamentem jest Jezus Chrystus! 12 Można budować na Nim używając różnych materiałów: złota, srebra i szlachetnych kamieni lub drewna, słomy i siana. 13 W dniu sądu okaże się z czego kto budował, bo dzieło każdego z nas przejdzie próbę ognia. 14 Czyja budowla przetrwa, ten otrzyma nagrodę. 15 Czyja spłonie, ten poniesie stratę. Sam wprawdzie ocaleje, ale przejdzie trudną dla niego próbę ognia.
16 Czy nie wiecie, że wszyscy razem stanowicie świątynię Boga i że mieszka w was Jego Duch? 17 Bóg zniszczy każdego, kto bezcześci i niszczy Jego świątynię. Jest bowiem święta—a to wy nią jesteście.
18 Przestańcie się więc łudzić. Jeśli ktoś jest dumny ze swojej mądrości, niech lepiej stanie się głupcem, aby zdobyć prawdziwą mądrość. 19 Mądrość tego świata jest bowiem dla Boga głupstwem—napisano bowiem: „Bóg złapał mądrych w pułapkę ich własnej mądrości” 20 oraz: „Pan dobrze zna myśli mądrych i wie, że są jałowe”. 21 Nie szczyćcie się więc uznaniem innych ludzi. Wszystko bowiem należy do was: 22 Paweł, Apollos, Piotr i cały świat, a nawet życie i śmierć, przeszłość i przyszłość. Wszystko jest wasze, 23 wy zaś należycie do Chrystusa, a Chrystus—do Boga.

The Church and Its Leaders
3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit(A) but as people who are still worldly(B)—mere infants(C) in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food,(D) for you were not yet ready for it.(E) Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling(F) among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? 4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,”(G) are you not mere human beings?
5 What, after all, is Apollos?(H) And what is Paul? Only servants,(I) through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6 I planted the seed,(J) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.(K) 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service;(L) you are God’s field,(M) God’s building.(N)
10 By the grace God has given me,(O) I laid a foundation(P) as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.(Q) 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is,(R) because the Day(S) will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.(T) 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.(U) 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.(V)
16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple(W) and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?(X) 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise(Y) by the standards of this age,(Z) you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness(AA) in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”[a];(AB) 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”[b](AC) 21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders!(AD) All things are yours,(AE) 22 whether Paul or Apollos(AF) or Cephas[c](AG) or the world or life or death or the present or the future(AH)—all are yours, 23 and you are of Christ,(AI) and Christ is of God.

2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;

Sectarianism Is Carnal

For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and [a]behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
Watering, Working, Warning
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but (D)ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 (E)I planted, (F)Apollos watered, (G)but God gave the increase. 7 So then (H)neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, (I)and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
