¹⁹ In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves^(A) as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of^(B) the life that is truly life.

Treasures in Heaven^(A)

¹⁹ “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,^(B) where moths and vermin destroy,^(C) and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,^(D) where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.^{(E) 21} For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.^(F)

¹² Fight the good fight^(A) of the faith. Take hold of^(B) the eternal life^(C) to which you were called when you made your good confession^(D) in the presence of many witnesses.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm,^(A) sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”^(B) and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord^(C) must turn away from wickedness.”

⁴ and into an inheritance^(A) that can never perish, spoil or fade.^(B) This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,^(C)

⁸ Whoever sows to please their flesh,^(A) from the flesh will reap destruction;^(B) whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.^{(C) 9} Let us not become weary in doing good,^(D) for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.^(E)

⁹ I tell you, use worldly wealth^(A) to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.^(B)

¹⁴ I press on^(A) toward the goal to win the prize^(B) for which God has called^(C) me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
