¹⁷ As for the rich in ^(A)this present age, charge them ^(B)not to be haughty, nor ^(C)to set their hopes on ^(D)the uncertainty of riches, but on God, ^(E)who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

¹⁷ Yet ^(A)he did not leave himself without witness, for he ^(B)did good by ^(C)giving you rains from heaven and ^(D)fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with ^(E)food and ^(F)gladness.”

¹⁰ For to this end we toil and strive,^[a] because we have our hope set on the living God, ^(A)who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

²⁰ That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you ^(A)stand fast through faith. So ^(B)do not become proud, but ^(C)fear.

²⁴ And the disciples ^(A)were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, ^(B)“Children, ^(C)how difficult it is^[a] to enter ^(D)the kingdom of God!

¹⁸ Behold, what I have seen to be ^(A)good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment^[a] in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his ^(B)lot. ¹⁹ Everyone also to whom ^(C)God has given ^(D)wealth and possessions ^(E)and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is ^(F)the gift of God.

^13 (A)There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt, ¹⁴ and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.
