⁶ Certain persons, by ^(A)swerving from these, have wandered away into ^(B)vain discussion,

¹⁰ For there are many who are insubordinate, ^(A)empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of ^(B)the circumcision party.^[a]

⁹ But ^(A)avoid foolish ^(B)controversies, ^(C)genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for ^(D)they are unprofitable and worthless.

²³ Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant ^(A)controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. ²⁴ And ^(B)the Lord's servant^[a] must not be quarrelsome but ^(C)kind to everyone, ^(D)able to teach, patiently enduring evil,

²⁰ O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. ^(A)Avoid the ^(B)irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” ²¹ for by professing it some have swerved from the faith.

^(C)Grace be with you.^[a]

^4 (A)he is puffed up with conceit and ^(B)understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for ^(C)controversy and for ^(D)quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction among people ^(E)who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, ^(F)imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

^15 (A)For some have already strayed after Satan.

¹⁰ For ^(A)Demas, ^(B)in love with ^(C)this present world, ^(D)has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia,^{[a] (E)}Titus to Dalmatia.

¹⁸ who have swerved from the truth, ^(A)saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some.
