    her cities languish;
they wail for the land,
    and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.

³ In the streets they wear sackcloth;^(A)
    on the roofs^(B) and in the public squares^(C)
they all wail,^(D)
    prostrate with weeping.^(E)
4 Heshbon^(F) and Elealeh^(G) cry out,
    their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz.^(H)
Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out,
    and their hearts are faint.
