The Philistines Reject David

29 ^(A)Now the Philistines had gathered all their forces at ^(B)Aphek. And the Israelites were encamped by ^(C)the spring that is in ^(D)Jezreel.

The Philistines Capture the Ark

4 And the word of Samuel came to all Israel.

Now Israel went out to battle against the Philistines. They encamped at ^(A)Ebenezer, and the Philistines encamped at ^(B)Aphek.

Naboth's Vineyard

21 Now Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard in ^(A)Jezreel, beside the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

³⁰ And the rest fled into the city of ^(A)Aphek, and the wall fell upon 27,000 men who were left.

Ben-hadad also fled and entered ^(B)an inner chamber in the city.

³⁰ Ummah, Aphek and Rehob—twenty-two cities with their villages.

¹⁸ the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

⁴ And the Lord said to him, “Call his name Jezreel, for in just a little while ^(A)I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of Jezreel, and ^(B)I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. ⁵ And on that day ^(C)I will break the bow of Israel ^(D)in the Valley of Jezreel.”

⁶ She conceived again and bore a daughter. And the Lord said to him, ^(E)“Call her name No Mercy,^[a] for ^(F)I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all. ⁷ But ^(G)I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the Lord their God. I ^(H)will not save them by bow or by sword or by war or by horses or by horsemen.”

⁸ When she had weaned No Mercy, she conceived and bore a son. ⁹ And the Lord said, ^(I)“Call his name Not My People,^[b] for ^(J)you are not my people, and I am not your God.”^[c]

^10 [d] Yet ^(K)the number of the children of Israel shall be ^(L)like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. ^(M)And ^(N)in the place where it was said to them, ^(O)“You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, ^(P)“Children^[e] of ^(Q)the living God.” ¹¹ And ^(R)the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and ^(S)they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

³⁶ When they came back and told him, he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite: ^(A)‘In the territory of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel,

Jehu Executes Jezebel

³⁰ When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it. And ^(A)she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out of the window.
