^6 (A)When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech had fled to David to Keilah, he had come down with an ephod in his hand.

²⁰ But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named ^(A)Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

³⁶ Then Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” But ^(A)the priest said, “Let us draw near to God here.” ³⁷ And Saul inquired of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you give them into the hand of Israel?” ^(B)But he did not answer him that day.

¹⁸ So Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring the ark of God here.” For the ark of God went at that time with the people^[a] of Israel.

³ including ^(A)Ahijah the son of Ahitub, ^(B)Ichabod's brother, son of Phinehas, son of Eli, the priest of the Lord ^(C)in Shiloh, ^(D)wearing an ephod. And the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.

³⁰ And in the breastpiece of judgment ^(A)you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron's heart, when he goes in before the Lord. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the Lord regularly.
