9 (A)who saved us and (B)called us to[a] a holy calling, (C)not because of our works but because of (D)his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus (E)before the ages began,[b]10 and which now has (F)been manifested through (G)the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, (H)who abolished death and (I)brought life and (J)immortality to light through the gospel,
26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, (A)he has appeared (B)once for all (C)at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
8 and all (A)who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in (B)the book of life of (C)the Lamb (D)who was slain.
2 (A)in hope of eternal life, which God, (B)who never lies, (C)promised (D)before the ages began[a]3 and (E)at the proper time manifested in his word[b](F)through the preaching (G)with which I have been entrusted (H)by the command of God our Savior;
2 but (A)in these last days (B)he has spoken to us by (C)his Son, whom he appointed (D)the heir of all things, (E)through whom also he created (F)the world.
2 [a](A)But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of (B)Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be (C)ruler in Israel, (D)whose coming forth is (E)from of old, from ancient days.
9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that (A)God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.10 In this is love, (B)not that we have loved God (C)but that he loved us and sent his Son to be (D)the propitiation for our sins.
2 (A)the life (B)was made manifest, and we have seen it, and (C)testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, (D)which was with the Father and (E)was made manifest to us—
25 (A)Now to him who is able to strengthen you (B)according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, (C)according to the revelation of the mystery (D)that was kept secret for (E)long ages26 but (F)has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, (G)to bring about the obedience of faith—
25 whom God (A)put forward as (B)a propitiation (C)by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in (D)his divine forbearance he had passed over (E)former sins.
25 (A)You are the sons of the prophets and of (B)the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, (C)‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’26 (D)God, (E)having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, (F)to bless you (G)by turning every one of you from your wickedness.”
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring[a] and (A)her offspring; (B)he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
8 (A)Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was (B)to destroy the works of the devil.
