⁸⁶ Then Jonathan left there and encamped outside Ashkelon, and the people of that city came out to meet him with great pomp. ⁸⁷ He and his men then returned to Jerusalem laden with a great deal of booty.

⁸⁸ When King Alexander heard of these events, he conferred even greater honors on Jonathan.
