¹² After the earthquake came a fire,^(A) but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.^(B)

⁶ So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:^(A) ‘Not^(B) by might nor by power,^(C) but by my Spirit,’^(D) says the Lord Almighty.

³³ Has any other people heard the voice of God^[a] speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived?^(A)

¹¹ You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain^(A) while it blazed with fire^(B) to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.^{(C) 12} Then the Lord spoke^(D) to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form;^(E) there was only a voice.^(F)

⁶ And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate^(A) and gracious God, slow to anger,^(B) abounding in love^(C) and faithfulness,^(D)

² There the angel of the Lord^(A) appeared to him in flames of fire^(B) from within a bush.^(C) Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

¹⁷ When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch^(A) appeared and passed between the pieces.^(B)
