4 ¶ Amados, no creáis a todo espíritu, sino probad los espíritus si son de Dios. Porque muchos falsos profetas son salidos en el mundo.
2 En esto conoced el Espíritu de Dios: todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesucristo, es venido en carne es de Dios;
3 y todo espíritu que no confiesa que Jesucristo, es venido en carne, no es de Dios; y éste es el espíritu del anticristo del cual vosotros habéis oído que ha de venir, y que ahora ya está en el mundo.
4 ¶ Hijitos, vosotros sois de Dios, y los habéis vencido; porque el que en vosotros está, es mayor que el que está en el mundo.
5 Ellos son del mundo, por eso hablan del mundo, y el mundo los oye.
6 Nosotros somos de Dios, el que conoce a Dios, nos oye; el que no es de Dios, no nos oye. Por esto conocemos el espíritu de verdad y el espíritu de error.
7 ¶ Carísimos, amémonos unos a otros; porque la caridad es de Dios. Cualquiera que ama, es nacido de Dios, y conoce a Dios.
8 El que no ama, no conoce a Dios; porque Dios es caridad.
9 En esto se mostró la caridad de Dios en nosotros, en que Dios envió su Hijo unigénito al mundo, para que vivamos por él.
10 En esto consiste la caridad, no porque nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino porque él nos amó a nosotros, y ha enviado a su Hijo para ser la reconciliación por nuestros pecados.
11 Amados, si Dios así nos ha amado, debemos también nosotros amarnos unos a otros.
12 Ninguno vio jamás a Dios. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros, y su caridad es completada en nosotros;
13 en esto conocemos que permanecemos en él, y él en nosotros, en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu.
14 ¶ Y nosotros hemos visto, y testificamos que el Padre ha enviado a su Hijo para ser Salvador del mundo.
15 Cualquiera que confesare que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él, y él en Dios.
16 Y nosotros hemos conocido y creído la caridad que Dios tiene en nosotros. Dios es caridad; y el que permanece en caridad, permanece en Dios, y Dios en él.
17 ¶ En esto es hecha perfecta la caridad con nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, que cual él es, tales somos nosotros en este mundo.
18 En la caridad no hay temor; mas la perfecta caridad echa fuera el temor; porque el temor tiene pena; de donde el que teme, no está completo en caridad.
19 Nosotros le amamos a él, porque él primero nos amó.
20 Si alguno dice: Yo amo a Dios, y aborrece a su Hermano, es mentiroso. Porque el que no ama a su Hermano al cual ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto?
21 Y nosotros tenemos este mandamiento de él: Que el que ama a Dios, ame también a su Hermano.

Test the Spirits
4 (A)Beloved, do not believe every (B)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because (C)many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: (D)every spirit that (E)confesses that (F)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that (G)does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the (H)antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and (I)now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, (J)little children, and (K)have overcome them; because (L)greater is He who is in you than (M)he who is in the world. 5 (N)They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world hears them. 6 (O)We are from God. (P)The one who knows God hears us; (Q)the one who is not from God does not hear us. From this we know (R)the spirit of truth and (S)the spirit of error.
God Is Love
7 (T)Beloved, let us (U)love one another, for love is from God; and (V)everyone who loves has been [a](W)born of God and (X)knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, because (Y)God is love. 9 By this the love of God was manifested [b](Z)in us, that (AA)God has sent His [c]only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, (AB)not that we have loved God, but that (AC)He loved us and sent His Son to be (AD)the propitiation for our sins. 11 (AE)Beloved, if God so loved us, (AF)we also ought to love one another. 12 (AG)No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His (AH)love is perfected in us. 13 (AI)By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 We have beheld and (AJ)bear witness that the Father has (AK)sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
15 (AL)Whoever confesses that (AM)Jesus is the Son of God, God (AN)abides in him, and he in God. 16 (AO)And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has (AP)in us. (AQ)God is love, and the one who (AR)abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, (AS)love has been perfected with us, so that we may have (AT)confidence in (AU)the day of judgment, because (AV)as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but (AW)perfect love casts out fear, because fear [d]involves punishment, and the one who fears is not (AX)perfected in love. 19 (AY)We love, because He first loved us. 20 (AZ)If someone says, “I love God,” and (BA)hates his brother, he is a (BB)liar; for (BC)the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, (BD)cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And (BE)this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God (BF)should love his brother also.
