1 John 3

3 See how much the Father has loved us! We are called God's children. It is true, we are God's children. People in this world did not know him and so they do not know us.
2 My dear brothers, we are God's children now. No one knows yet what we shall be like. But we know that when Jesus comes, we will be like him. We will see him as he really is.
3 Everyone who has this hope about Christ makes his life holy. He makes his life holy and clean, just as Christ is holy.
4 Everyone who does wrong things is breaking God's law. Doing wrong things is breaking the law.
5 You know that Christ came to take away the wrong things people have done. He is the one who has done no wrong.
6 Everyone who stays with him does not do wrong things. Everyone who does wrong things has never seen him and has never known him.
7 My children, do not let anyone fool you. Anyone who does what is good, is good just as Christ is good.
8 Anyone who does what is wrong belongs to the devil. The devil has done what is wrong from the beginning. That is why God's Son came. He came to stop what the devil does.
9 No one who is God's child does wrong things, because God's life is in him. And he cannot keep on doing wrong things, because he is God's child.
10 This is how people can know who are God's children and who are the devil's children. Everyone who does not do right is not God's child. And anyone who does not love his brother is not God's child.
11 This is the word you have heard from the beginning. `We must love one another.'
12 We must not be like Cain. He was a child of the devil and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? He killed him because the things he himself did were wrong, and the things his brother did were right with God.
13 My brothers, do not be surprised if people in this world hate you.
14 We know that we have gone from death to life. We know this because we love the Christian brothers. Anyone who does not love them has not gone from death to life.
15 Everyone who hates his brother is like a man who kills a person. And you know that no one who kills a person has life that will live for ever.
16 Christ died for us. That is how we know what love is. We also should be willing to die for our brothers.
17 Perhaps a man has plenty of food and things. He sees that his brother needs some. If he does not want to help his brother, does he love God?
18 My children, we must not only talk about loving people; we must show we love people by what we do for them. We must really love them.
19 And this is how we will know that we are true. This is why we will not be afraid in front of God.
20 Even if our hearts think we are wrong, God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything.
21 My dear brothers, if our hearts do not think we are wrong, we will not be afraid in front of God.
22 If we ask God for something, we get it. We get it because we obey his laws. We get it because we do what pleases him.
23 This is his law. We must believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ. And we must love one another as he told us to do.
24 If anyone obeys his laws, he belongs to God and God belongs to him. God has given us the Holy Spirit. That is how we know that God is with us.

3 تَأَمَّلُوا مَا أَعْظَمَ الْمَحَبَّةَ الَّتِي أَحَبَّنَا بِها الآبُ حَتَّى صِرْنَا نُدْعَى «أَوْلادَ اللهِ»، وَنَحْنُ أَوْلادُهُ حَقّاً. وَلَكِنْ، بِمَا أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْعَالَمِ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ اللهَ، فَهُمْ لَا يَعْرِفُونَنَا.
2 أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاءُ، نَحْنُ الآنَ أَوْلادُ اللهِ. وَلا نَعْلَمُ حَتَّى الآنَ مَاذَا سَنَكُونُ، لَكِنَّنَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ مَتَى أُظْهِرَ الْمَسِيحُ، سَنَكُونُ مِثْلَهُ، لأَنَّنَا سَنَرَاهُ عِنْدَئِذٍ كَمَا هُوَ! 3 وَكُلُّ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ هَذَا الرَّجَاءُ بِالْمَسِيحِ، يُطَهِّرُ نَفْسَهُ كَمَا أَنَّ الْمَسِيحَ طَاهِرٌ. 4 أَمَّا الَّذِي يُمَارِسُ الْخَطِيئَةَ، فَهُوَ يُخَالِفُ نَامُوسَ اللهِ: لأَنَّ الْخَطِيئَةَ هِيَ مُخَالَفَةُ النَّامُوسِ. 5 وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ أَنَّ الْمَسِيحَ جَاءَ إِلَى هذِهِ الأَرْضِ لِكَيْ يَحْمِلَ الْخَطَايَا، مَعْ كَوْنِهِ بِلا خَطِيئِةٍ. 6 فَكُلُّ مَنْ يَثْبُتُ فِيهِ، لَا يُمَارِسُ الْخَطِيئَةَ. أَمَّا الَّذِينَ يُمَارِسُونَ الْخَطِيئَةَ، فَهُمْ لَمْ يَرَوْهُ وَلَمْ يَتَعَرَّفُوا بِهِ قَطُّ.
7 أَيُّهَا الأَوْلادُ الصِّغَارُ، لَا تَدَعُوا أَحَداً يُضَلِّلُكُمْ. تَأَكَّدُوا أَنَّ مَنْ يُمَارِسُ الصَّلاحَ، يُظْهِرُ أَنَّهُ بَارٌّ كَمَا أَنَّ الْمَسِيحَ بَارٌّ. 8 وَلكِنَّ مَنْ يُمَارِسُ الْخَطِيئَةَ، يُظْهِرُ أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَوْلادِ إِبْلِيسَ، لأَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ يُمَارِسُ الْخَطِيئَةَ مُنْذُ الْبَدَايَةِ. وَقَدْ جَاءَ ابْنُ اللهِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ لِكَيْ يُبْطِلَ أَعْمَالَ إِبْلِيسَ. 9 فَكُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ مِنَ اللهِ، لَا يُمَارِسُ الْخَطِيئَةَ، لأَنَّ طَبِيعَةَ اللهِ صَارَتْ ثَابِتَةً فِيهِ. بَلْ إِنَّهُ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُمَارِسَ الْخَطِيئَةَ، لأَنَّهُ مَوْلُودٌ مِنَ اللهِ.
10 إِذَنْ، هَذَا هُوَ الْمِقِيَاسُ الَّذِي نُمَيِّزُ بِهِ بَيْنَ أَوْلادِ اللهِ وَأَوْلادِ إِبْلِيسَ. مَنْ لَا يُمَارِسُ الصَّلاحَ، فَهُوَ لَيْسَ مِنَ اللهِ. وَكَذَلِكَ مَنْ لَا يُحِبُّ أَخَاهُ! 11 فَالْوَصِيَّةُ الَّتِي سَمِعْتُمُوهَا مُنْذُ الْبَدَايَةِ، هِيَ أَنْ يُحِبَّ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضاً، 12 لَا أَنْ نَكُونَ مِثْلَ قَايِينَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ أَخَاهُ. فَقَايِينُ كَانَ مِنْ أَوْلادِ إِبْلِيسَ الشِّرِّيرِ. وَلِمَاذَا قَتَلَ أَخَاهُ؟ قَتَلَهُ لأَنَّ أَعْمَالَهُ هُوَ كَانَتْ شِرِّيرَةً، أَمَّا أَعْمَالُ أَخِيهِ فَكَانَتْ صَالِحَةً.
أحبوا بعضكم بعضًا
13 إِذَنْ، يَا إِخْوَتِي، لَا تَتَعَجَّبُوا إِنْ كَانَ أَهْلُ الْعَالَمِ يُبْغِضُونَكُمْ!
14 إِنَّ مَحَبَّتَنَا لإِخْوَتِنَا تُبَيِّنُ لَنَا أَنَّنَا انْتَقَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَوْتِ إِلَى الْحَيَاةِ. فَالَّذِي لَا يُحِبُّ إِخْوَتَهُ، فَهُوَ بَاقٍ فِي الْمَوْتِ. 15 وَكُلُّ مَنْ يُبْغِضُ أَخاً لَهُ، فَهُوَ قَاتِلٌ. وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ أَنَّ الْقَاتِلَ لَا تَكُونُ لَهُ حَيَاةٌ أَبَدِيَّةٌ ثَابِتَةٌ فِيهِ.
16 وَمِقِيَاسُ الْمَحَبَّةِ هُوَ الْعَمَلُ الَّذِي قَامَ بِهِ الْمَسِيحُ إِذْ بَذَلَ حَيَاتَهُ لأَجْلِنَا. فَعَلَيْنَا نَحْنُ أَيْضاً أَنْ نَبْذُلَ حَيَاتَنَا لأَجْلِ إِخْوَتِنَا. 17 وَأَمَّا الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ مَالاً يُمَكِّنُهُ مِنَ الْعَيْشِ فِي بُحْبُوحَةٍ، وَيُقَسِّي قَلْبَهُ عَلَى أَحَدِ الإِخْوَةِ الْمُحْتَاجِينَ، فَكَيْفَ تَكُونُ مَحَبَّةُ اللهِ مُتَأَصِّلَةً فِيهِ؟
18 أَيُّهَا الأَوْلادُ الصِّغَارُ، لَا يَجِبُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مَحَبَّتُنَا مُجَرَّدَ ادِّعَاءَ بِالْكَلامِ وَاللِّسَانِ، بَلْ تَكُونَ مَحَبَّةً عَمَلِيَّةً حَقَّةً. 19 عِنْدَئِذٍ نَتَأَكَّدُ أَنَّنَا نَتَصَرَّفُ بِحَسَبِ الْحَقِّ، وَتَطْمَئِنُّ نُفُوسُنَا فِي حَضْرَةِ اللهِ، 20 وَلَوْ لامَتْنَا قُلُوبُنَا؛ فَإِنَّ اللهَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ قُلُوبِنَا، وَهُوَ الْعَلِيمُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ.
21 أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاءُ، إِذَا كَانَتْ ضَمَائِرُنَا لَا تَلُومُنَا، فَلَنَا ثِقَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ مِنْ نَحْوِ اللهِ، 22 وَمَهْمَا نَطْلُبْ مِنْهُ بِالصَّلاةِ، نَحْصُلْ عَلَيْهِ: لأَنَّنَا نُطِيعُ مَا يُوصِينَا بِهِ، وَنُمَارِسُ الأَعْمَالَ الَّتِي تُرْضِيهِ. 23 وَأَمَّا وَصِيَّتُهُ فَهِيَ أَنْ نُؤْمِنَ بِاسْمِ ابْنِهِ يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ، وَأَنْ يُحِبَّ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضاً كَمَا أَوْصَانَا. 24 وَكُلُّ مَنْ يُطِيعُ وَصَايَا اللهِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَثْبُتُ فِي اللهِ، وَاللهُ يَثْبُتُ فِيهِ. وَالَّذِي يُؤَكِّدُ لَنَا أَنَّ اللهَ يَثْبُتُ فِينَا، هُوَ الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ الَّذِي وَهَبَهُ لَنَا.

3 See what great love[a] the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children—and we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed.(A) We know that when he appears,[b] we will be like him(B) because we will see him as he is.(C) 3 And everyone who has this hope(D) in him purifies himself just as he is pure.(E)
4 Everyone who commits sin practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he was revealed so that he might take away sins,[c](F) and there is no sin in him.(G) 6 Everyone who remains in him(H) does not sin;[d](I) everyone who sins[e] has not seen him or known him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who commits[f] sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God(J) was revealed(K) for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works. 9 Everyone who has been born of God(L) does not sin,[g] because his seed(M) remains in him; he is not able to sin,[h] because he has been born of God. 10 This is how God’s children and the devil’s children become obvious. Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother or sister.(N)
Love in Action
11 For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another, 12 unlike Cain,(O) who was of the evil one(P) and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
13 Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates(Q) you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death.(R) 15 Everyone who hates his brother or sister(S) is a murderer,(T) and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. 16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life(U) for us.(V) We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.(W) 17 If anyone has this world’s goods(X) and sees a fellow believer[i] in need(Y) but withholds compassion(Z) from him—how does God’s love reside in him?(AA) 18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.(AB)
19 This is how we will know that we belong to the truth(AC) and will reassure our hearts before him 20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows all things.(AD)
21 Dear friends, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive whatever we ask from him because we keep his commands(AE) and do what is pleasing in his sight. 23 Now this is his command: that we believe in the name(AF) of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps his commands remains in him,(AG) and he in him. And the way we know that he remains in us(AH) is from the Spirit(AI) he has given us.
