Do Not Love the World

¹⁵ Do not love ^(A)the world nor the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, ^(C)the lust of the flesh and ^(D)the lust of the eyes and ^(E)the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. ^17 (F)The world is passing away and also its lusts; but the one who ^(G)does the will of God continues to live forever.

Children of God Love One Another

3 See ^[a](A)how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called ^(B)children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because ^(C)it did not know Him.

¹³ Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if ^(A)the world hates you.

⁴ You are from God, ^(A)little children, and ^(B)have overcome them; because ^(C)greater is He who is in you than ^(D)he who is in the world. ^5 (E)They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.

⁴ For ^[a]whoever has been ^(A)born of God ^(B)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

⁵ Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who ^(C)believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

^19 (A)We know that ^(B)we are of God, and that ^(C)the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
