Glorify God in Body and Spirit
12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food,”[a] and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two shall be one flesh.” 17 But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Shun fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple[b] of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

Il corpo però non è per la fornicazione, ma è per il Signore, e il Signore è per il corpo; 14 Dio, come ha risuscitato il Signore, così risusciterà anche noi mediante la sua potenza. 15 Non sapete che i vostri corpi sono membra di Cristo? Prenderò dunque le membra di Cristo per farne membra di una prostituta? No di certo! 16 Non sapete che chi si unisce alla prostituta è un corpo solo con lei? «Poiché», Dio dice, «i due diventeranno una sola carne»[a]. 17 Ma chi si unisce al Signore è uno spirito solo con lui. 18 Fuggite la fornicazione. Ogni altro peccato che l’uomo commetta è fuori del corpo, ma il fornicatore pecca contro il proprio corpo. 19 Non sapete che il vostro corpo è il tempio dello Spirito Santo che è in voi e che avete ricevuto da Dio? Quindi non appartenete a voi stessi. 20 Poiché siete stati comprati a caro prezzo. Glorificate dunque Dio nel vostro corpo [e nel vostro spirito, che appartengono a Dio].

13 Die Speisen sind für den Bauch und der Bauch für die Speisen; Gott aber wird diesen und jene wegtun. Der Leib aber ist nicht für die Unzucht, sondern für den Herrn, und der Herr für den Leib.
14 Gott aber hat den Herrn auferweckt und wird auch uns auferwecken durch seine Kraft.
15 Wisst ihr nicht, dass eure Leiber Glieder des Christus sind? Soll ich nun die Glieder des Christus nehmen und Hurenglieder daraus machen? Das sei ferne!
16 Oder wisst ihr nicht, dass, wer einer Hure anhängt, ein Leib mit ihr ist? »Denn es werden«, heißt es, »die zwei ein Fleisch sein.«[a]
17 Wer aber dem Herrn anhängt, ist ein Geist mit ihm.
18 Flieht die Unzucht! Jede Sünde, die ein Mensch [sonst] begeht, ist außerhalb des Leibes; wer aber Unzucht verübt, sündigt an seinem eigenen Leib.
19 Oder wisst ihr nicht, dass euer Leib ein Tempel des in euch wohnenden Heiligen Geistes ist, den ihr von Gott empfangen habt, und dass ihr nicht euch selbst gehört?
20 Denn ihr seid teuer erkauft; darum verherrlicht Gott in eurem Leib und in eurem Geist, die Gott gehören!

12 Minden szabad nekem, de nem minden használ. Minden szabad nekem, de ne váljak semminek a rabjává.
13 Az eledel a gyomorért van, a gyomor meg az eledelért, de Isten ezt is, amazt is meg fogja semmisíteni. A test azonban nem a paráznaságért van, hanem az Úrért, az Úr pedig a testért.
14 Isten ugyanis feltámasztotta az Urat, és hatalmával minket is fel fog támasztani.
15 Vagy nem tudjátok, hogy a ti testetek a Krisztus tagja? Most tehát azok, akik a Krisztus tagjai, parázna nő tagjaivá legyenek? Szó sem lehet róla!
16 Vagy nem tudjátok, hogy aki parázna nővel egyesül, egy testté lesz vele? Mert - amint az Írás mondja - "lesznek ketten egy testté."
17 Aki pedig az Úrral egyesül, egy Lélek ővele.
18 Kerüljétek a paráznaságot! Minden más bűn, amit elkövet az ember, kívül van a testén, de aki paráználkodik, a saját teste ellen vétkezik.
19 Vagy nem tudjátok, hogy testetek, amit Istentől kaptatok, a bennetek levő Szentlélek temploma, és ezért nem a magatokéi vagytok?
20 Mert áron vétettetek meg: dicsőítsétek tehát Istent testetekben.

12 Tout m’est permis. Certes, mais tout n’est pas bon pour moi. Tout m’est permis, c’est vrai, mais je ne veux pas me placer sous un esclavage quelconque[a]. 13 « Les aliments sont faits pour le ventre et le ventre pour les aliments. » Certes, cependant un jour, Dieu détruira l’un comme l’autre. Mais attention : notre corps, lui, n’a pas été fait pour l’inconduite, il est pour le Seigneur et le Seigneur est pour le corps. 14 En effet, comme Dieu a ressuscité le Seigneur, il nous ressuscitera, nous aussi, par sa puissance.
15 Ignorez-vous que vos corps sont des membres de Christ ? Vais-je donc arracher les membres de Christ pour en faire ceux d’une prostituée[b] ? Sûrement pas !
16 Ou bien, ignorez-vous qu’un homme qui s’unit à une prostituée devient un seul corps avec elle ? Car il est écrit : Les deux ne feront plus qu’un[c]. 17 Mais celui qui s’unit au Seigneur devient, lui, un seul esprit avec lui. 18 C’est pourquoi, fuyez l’inconduite sexuelle. Tous les autres péchés qu’un homme peut commettre n’impliquent pas son corps, mais celui qui se livre à l’inconduite pèche contre son propre corps.
19 Ou bien encore, ignorez-vous que votre corps est le temple même du Saint-Esprit qui vous a été donné par Dieu et qui, maintenant, demeure en vous ? Vous ne vous appartenez donc pas à vous-mêmes. 20 Car vous avez été rachetés à grand prix. Honorez donc Dieu dans votre corps.
