^6 (A)does not rejoice in iniquity, but ^(B)rejoices in the truth; ^7 (C)bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

⁸ Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. ^9 (D)For we know in part and we prophesy in part. ¹⁰ But when that which is ^[a]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. ¹² For ^(E)now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then ^(F)face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

¹³ And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Avoid Wicked Customs

⁹ “When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, ^(A)you shall not learn to follow the ^[a]abominations of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter ^(B)pass^[b] through the fire, ^(C)or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, ^11 (D)or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or ^(E)one who calls up the dead. ¹² For all who do these things are ^[c]an abomination to the Lord, and ^(F)because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. ¹³ You shall be ^[d]blameless before the Lord your God. ¹⁴ For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not ^[e]appointed such for you.

A New Prophet Like Moses

^15 (G)“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore do not be ^(A)partakers with them.

Walk in Light

⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are ^(B)light in the Lord. Walk as children of light ⁹ (for ^(C)the fruit of the ^[a]Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), ^10 (D)finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have ^(E)no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather ^[b]expose them. ^12 (F)For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But ^(G)all things that are ^[c]exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. ¹⁴ Therefore He says:

Walk in Wisdom

^15 (I)See then that you walk ^[d]circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, ^16 (J)redeeming the time, ^(K)because the days are evil.

^17 (L)Therefore do not be unwise, but ^(M)understand ^(N)what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And ^(O)do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ speaking to one another ^(P)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making ^(Q)melody in your heart to the Lord, ^20 (R)giving thanks always for all things to God the Father ^(S)in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Whole Armor of God

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ^11 (A)Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the ^[a]wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ^(B)principalities, against powers, against ^(C)the rulers of ^[b]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ^13 (D)Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand ^(E)in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, ^(F)having girded your waist with truth, ^(G)having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ^15 (H)and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking ^(I)the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ And ^(J)take the helmet of salvation, and ^(K)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; ^18 (L)praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, ^(M)being watchful to this end with all perseverance and ^(N)supplication for all the saints— ¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given to me, ^(O)that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰ for which ^(P)I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

^16 (A)For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten ^(B)Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ^17 (C)For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

^18 (D)“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, ^(E)that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

¹⁰ The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

²⁶ ‘You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying.

³¹ ‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after ^(A)them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.
