¹⁶ Or do you not know that he who is joined^[a] to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, ^(A)“The two will become one flesh.”

^24 (A)Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

^31 (A)“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and ^(B)the two shall become one flesh.”

⁸ and ^(A)the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.

⁵ and said, ^(A)‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and ^(B)the two shall become one flesh’? ⁶ So they are no longer two but one flesh. ^(C)What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, ^(A)the tax collectors and ^(B)the prostitutes go into ^(C)the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you ^(D)in the way of righteousness, and ^(E)you did not believe him, but ^(F)the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward ^(G)change your minds and believe him.

Samson and Delilah

16 Samson went to ^(A)Gaza, and there he saw a prostitute, and he went in to her.

²⁴ About three months later Judah was told, “Tamar your daughter-in-law ^(A)has been immoral.^[a] Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.”^[b] And Judah said, “Bring her out, and ^(B)let her be burned.”

¹⁵ When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.

³¹ But they said, “Should he treat our sister like a prostitute?”
