⁹ For ^(A)a great and effective door has opened to me, and ^(B)there are many adversaries.

Triumph in Christ

¹² Furthermore, ^(A)when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and ^(B)a ^[a]door was opened to me by the Lord,

²⁷ Now when they had come and gathered the church together, ^(A)they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had ^(B)opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

^3 (A)meanwhile praying also for us, that God would ^(B)open to us a door for the word, to speak ^(C)the ^[a]mystery of Christ, ^(D)for which I am also in chains,

The Faithful Church

⁷ “And to the ^[a]angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says ^(A)He who is holy, ^(B)He who is true, ^(C)“He who has the key of David, ^(D)He who opens and no one shuts, and ^(E)shuts and no one opens”: ^8 (F)“I know your works. See, I have set before you ^(G)an open door, ^[b]and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

Delivered from Suffering

⁸ For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of ^(A)our ^[a]trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. ⁹ Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should ^(B)not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, ^10 (C)who delivered us from so great a death, and ^[b]does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are ^(A)the enemies of the cross of Christ:

³² If, in the manner of men, ^(A)I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, ^(B)“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

^8 (A)And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading ^(B)concerning the things of the kingdom of God. ⁹ But ^(C)when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil ^(D)of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. ¹⁰ And ^(E)this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
