¹⁶ Let the word of Christ^[a] dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.^[b](A)

¹⁸ Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.^(A)

²³ But the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.^{(A) 24} God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”^(B)

¹⁷ So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.^{(A) 18} Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,^{(B) 19} as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to one another, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts,^{(C) 20} giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(D)

²⁰ But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit;^(A)

12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship.^{(A) 2} Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.^[a](B)
