Chapter 3[a]
1 These were David’s sons who were born in Hebron: Amnon, the firstborn, the son of Ahinoam of Jezreel; Daniel, the second, the son of Abigail of Carmel; 2 Absalom, the third, the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, the king of Geshur; Adonijah, the fourth, the son of Haggith; 3 Shephatiah, the fifth, the son of Abital; Ithream, the sixth, the son of Eglah. 4 These six were born in Hebron where he reigned for seven years and six months. He reigned for thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
5 These were the children born in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon. These four were from Bathsheba, the daughter of Ammiel. 6 There were also Ibhar, Elishua, Eliphelet, 7 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 8 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine of them in all. 9 These were the sons of David, not counting his sons by his concubines. Tamar[b] was their sister.
10 [c]Solomon’s son was Rehoboam, Abijah his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son, 11 Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son, 12 Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son, 13 Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son, 14 Amon his son, and Josiah his son.
15 The sons of Josiah were Johanan his firstborn son, Jehoiakim, his second son, Zedekiah, his third son, and Shallum, his fourth son.
16 The successors of Josiah were Jehoiakim, his son Jehoiachin, and Zedekiah.
17 The sons of Jehoiachin the captive were Shealtiel his son, 18 Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.
19 The sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel and Shimei.[d]
The children of Zerubbabel were Meshullam, Hananiah, Shelomith, their sister, 20 and five named Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-hesed.
21 The descendants of Hananiah were Pelatiah, Jeshaiah, the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, and the sons of Shecaniah.
22 The son of Shecaniah was Shemaiah, and the sons of Shemaiah were Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat. There were six of them.
23 The sons of Neariah were Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam. There were three of them.
24 The sons of Elioenai were Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani. There were seven of them.

- 1 Chronicles 3:1 The history of Solomon and the other kings will come later in the work. The list of David’s descendants is complete (whereas there are omissions in Mt 1:7-11). The list from the Exile onward (v. 17ff) has for its purpose to show the survival of the descendants of David; in fact, only the names of Shealtiel and Zerubbabel will appear in the genealogy of Jesus in Mt 1 (and Lk 3).
- 1 Chronicles 3:9 Tamar: raped by her step-brother Amnon, son of David and Ahinoam, she was later vindicated by his murder by her full brother Absalom (2 Sam 13).
- 1 Chronicles 3:10 Solomon’s progeny provided many rulers for the nation of Judah until its destruction by the Babylonians.
- 1 Chronicles 3:19 In Hag 1:1 and Ezek 3:2, Zerubbabel is the son of Shealtiel (see Mt 1:12; Lk 3:27); the present verse needs therefore to be rearranged. The Septuagint replaces Pedaiah with Shealtiel.

3 Вот сыновья Довуда, которые родились у него в Хевроне:

4 Шестеро сыновей родилось у Довуда в Хевроне, где он правил Иудеей семь лет и шесть месяцев.
В Иерусалиме он правил всем Исроилом тридцать три года. 5 Вот имена детей, которые родились у него в Иерусалиме:
Шаммуа[b], Шовав, Нафан и Сулаймон – четверо от Вирсавии, дочери Аммиила. 6 Затем: Ивхар, Элишуа, Элфелет, 7 Ногах, Нефег, Иафия, 8 Элишама, Элиада и Элифелет – девять сыновей. 9 Всё это – сыновья Довуда, не считая сыновей от наложниц. А сестрой их была Фамарь.

10 Сын Сулаймона Реховоам;
его сын Авия;
его сын Осо;
его сын Иосафат;
11 его сын Иорам;
его сын Ахазия;
его сын Иоаш;
12 его сын Амасия;
его сын Уззия[c];
его сын Иотам;
13 его сын Ахаз;
его сын Езекия;
его сын Манасса;
14 его сын Амон;
его сын Иосия.
15 Сыновья Иосии:
первенец Иоханан,
второй сын – Иоаким,
третий – Цедекия,
четвёртый – Иоахаз[d].
16 Потомки Иоакима:
его сын Иехония;
его сын Цедекия.

17 Потомки Иехонии, который был пленником:
его сын Шеалтиил; 18 Малкирам, Педая, Шенацар, Иекамия, Гошама, Недавия.
19 Сыновья Педаи:
Зоровавель и Шимей.
Сыновья Зоровавеля:
Мешуллам и Ханания; сестрой их была Шеломит;
20 Хашува, Охел, Берехия, Хасадия и Иушав-Хесед – ещё пятеро.
21 Потомки Ханании:
Пелатия и Иешая; сыновья Рефаи, Арнана, Авдия, Шехании[e].
22 Сын Шехании:
Шемая; сыновья Шемаи: Хаттуш, Игал, Вариах, Неария и Шафат – всего шестеро.
23 Сыновья Неарии:
Элиоенай, Езекия и Азрикам – всего трое.
24 Сыновья Элиоеная:
Годавия, Элиашив, Пелая, Аккув, Иоханан, Делая и Анани – всего семеро.
