(B)The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, [a]Diphath, and Togarmah.

The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raama, and Sabteca;
and the sons of Raama were Sheba and Dedan.
10 Cush [c]was the father of Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth.
11 (C)Mizraim was the father of the people of [d]Lud, Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,
12 Pathrus, Casluh (from which came the [e]Philistines), and Caphtor.
13 Canaan was the father of Sidon, his firstborn, Heth,
14 and the [f](D)Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,
15 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,
16 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites.
17 (E)The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether, and [g]Meshech.
18 Arpachshad was the father of Shelah,
and Shelah was the father of Eber.
19 Two sons were born to Eber, the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.
20 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
21 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
22 [h]Ebal, Abimael, Sheba,
23 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.
24 (F)Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah,
25 Eber, Peleg, Reu,
26 Serug, Nahor, Terah,
27 Abram, that is Abraham.

From Abraham to Jacob

28 The sons of Abraham were Isaac and Ishmael. 29 (G)These are their generations:

the firstborn of Ishmael was Nebaioth, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema,
31 Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah; these were the sons of Ishmael.
32 (H)The sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, whom she bore, were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.
And the sons of Jokshan were Sheba and Dedan.
33 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.
34 (I)Abraham became the father of Isaac.
The sons of Isaac were (J)Esau and Israel.
35 (K)The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
36 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, [i]Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
37 The sons of Reuel were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
38 (L)The sons of Seir were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
39 The sons of Lotan were Hori and [j]Homam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
40 The sons of Shobal were [k]Alian, Manahath, Ebal, [l]Shephi, and Onam.
And the sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah.
41 The [m]son of Anah was Dishon.
And the sons of Dishon were [n]Hamran, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.
42 The sons of Ezer were Bilhan, Zaavan, and [o]Jaakan.
The sons of Dishon were Uz and Aran.
43 (M)Now these are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king of the sons of Israel reigned. Bela was the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
44 Then Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of (N)Bozrah became king in his place.
45 Then Jobab died, and Husham of the land of (O)the Temanites became king in his place.
46 Then Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who struck down Midian in the field of Moab, became king in his place; and the name of his city was Avith.
47 Then Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah became king in his place.
48 Then Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by [p]the River became king in his place.
49 Then Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor became king in his place.
50 Then Baal-hanan died, and [q]Hadad became king in his place; and the name of his city was [r]Pai, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.
51 Then Hadad died.

Now the chiefs of Edom were:

chief Timna, chief [s]Aliah, chief Jetheth,
52 chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,
53 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,
54 chief Magdiel, chief Iram.
These were the chiefs of Edom.

Von Adam bis Abraham

Dies ist das Verzeichnis von Adams Nachkommen bis zu Noah:

Adam, Set, Enosch, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jered,

Henoch, Metuschelach, Lamech, Noah.

Noah hatte drei Söhne: Sem, Ham und Jafet.

Jafets Söhne waren Gomer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Tubal, Meschech und Tiras. Gomers Söhne hießen Aschkenas, Rifat und Togarma, Jawans Söhne Elischa und Tarsis; von ihm stammten auch die Kittäer und die Rodaniter ab.

Hams Söhne waren Kusch, Mizrajim, Put und Kanaan. 9-10 Kuschs Söhne hießen Seba, Hawila, Sabta, Ragma und Sabtecha. Kusch hatte noch einen Sohn mit Namen Nimrod. Er war der erste große Kämpfer auf der Erde. Ragmas Söhne hießen Saba und Dedan. 11 Von Mizrajim stammten ab: die Luditer, Anamiter, Lehabiter, Naftuhiter, 12 Patrositer, Kaftoriter und Kasluhiter, von denen wiederum die Philister abstammten. 13 Kanaans Söhne waren Sidon, sein Ältester, und Het. 14 Außerdem stammten von Kanaan ab: die Jebusiter, Amoriter, Girgaschiter, 15 Hiwiter, Arkiter, Siniter, 16 Arwaditer, Zemariter und Hamatiter.

17 Sems Söhne hießen Elam, Assur, Arpachschad, Lud und Aram. Arams Söhne waren: Uz, Hul, Geter und Masch[a]. 18 Arpachschads Sohn hieß Schelach, und Schelach war der Vater von Eber. 19 Eber hatte zwei Söhne: Der eine hieß Peleg (»Teilung«), weil die Menschen auf der Erde damals entzweit wurden; der andere hieß Joktan. 20 Joktan war der Vater von Almodad, Schelef, Hazarmawet, Jerach, 21 Hadoram, Usal, Dikla, 22 Obal, Abimaël, Saba, 23 Ofir, Hawila und Jobab.

24 Dies ist die Linie von Sem bis Abraham: Sem, Arpachschad, Schelach, 25 Eber, Peleg, Regu, 26 Serug, Nahor, Terach, 27 Abram, der später Abraham genannt wurde.

Die Nachkommen von Abraham

28 Abrahams Söhne hießen Isaak und Ismael. 29 Und dies sind ihre Nachkommen:

Ismaels ältester Sohn hieß Nebajot; die übrigen Söhne waren: Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 30 Mischma, Duma, Massa, Hadad, Tema, 31 Jetur, Nafisch und Kedma.

32 Auch mit seiner Nebenfrau Ketura hatte Abraham Söhne: Sie hießen Simran, Jokschan, Medan, Midian, Jischbak und Schuach. Jokschan war der Vater von Saba und Dedan, 33 Midian der Vater von Efa, Efer, Henoch, Abida und Eldaa.

34 Abrahams Sohn Isaak hatte zwei Söhne: Esau und Israel. 35 Esaus Söhne hießen Elifas, Reguël, Jëusch, Jalam und Korach. 36 Elifas war der Vater von Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam, Kenas, Timna und Amalek. 37 Reguëls Söhne hießen Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa.

Die Nachkommen von Seïr

38 Seïrs Söhne waren Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana, Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. 39 Lotans Söhne hießen Hori und Hemam, seine Schwester hieß Timna. 40 Schobal war der Vater von Alwan, Manahat, Ebal, Schefi und Onam, Zibon der Vater von Ajja und Ana. 41 Ana hatte einen Sohn mit Namen Dischon. Dessen Söhne hießen Hemdan, Eschban, Jitran und Keran. 42 Ezers Söhne waren Bilhan, Saawan und Akan[b]. Dischans Söhne schließlich hießen Uz und Aran.

Könige und Oberhäupter der Edomiter

43 Noch bevor die Israeliten einen König hatten, regierten im Land Edom nacheinander folgende Könige:

König Bela, der Sohn von Beor, in der Stadt Dinhaba;

44 König Jobab, der Sohn von Serach, aus Bozra;

45 König Huscham aus dem Gebiet der Temaniter;

46 König Hadad, der Sohn von Bedad, in der Stadt Awit; sein Heer schlug die Midianiter im Gebiet von Moab;

47 König Samla aus Masreka;

48 König Schaul aus Rehobot am Fluss;

49 König Baal-Hanan, der Sohn von Achbor;

50 König Hadad in der Stadt Pagu; seine Frau hieß Mehetabel, sie war eine Tochter von Matred und Enkelin von Me-Sahab.

51 Die Oberhäupter der edomitischen Stämme hießen Timna, Alwa, Jetet, 52 Oholibama, Ela, Pinon, 53 Kenas, Teman, Mibzar, 54 Magdiël und Iram.
