²² And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great gladness.

Solomon Anointed King

And they made Solomon the son of David king ^(A)the second time, and they ^(B)anointed him as prince for the Lord, and ^(C)Zadok as priest.

David Organizes the Levites

23 ^(A)When David was old and full of days, ^(B)he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

^35 (A)The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in place of Joab, and the king put ^(B)Zadok the priest ^(C)in the place of Abiathar.

³⁴ And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet there ^(A)anoint him king over Israel. ^(B)Then blow the trumpet and say, ^(C)‘Long live King Solomon!’ ³⁵ You shall then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne, for he shall be king in my place. And I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.” ³⁶ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, “Amen! May the Lord, the God of my lord the king, say so. ^37 (D)As the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, ^(E)and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”

³⁸ So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, ^(F)and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David's mule and brought him to Gihon. ³⁹ There Zadok the priest took the horn of ^(G)oil from the tent and ^(H)anointed Solomon. ^(I)Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, ^(J)“Long live King Solomon!”

¹¹ And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ^(A)ate and drank.

¹⁷ As for the rich in ^(A)this present age, charge them ^(B)not to be haughty, nor ^(C)to set their hopes on ^(D)the uncertainty of riches, but on God, ^(E)who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. ¹⁸ They are to do good, ^(F)to be rich in good works, to be generous and ^(G)ready to share,

Enjoy Life with the One You Love

⁷ Go, ^(A)eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.

¹⁵ And I commend joy, for man ^(A)has nothing better under the sun but to ^(B)eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.

¹² I perceived that there is ^(A)nothing better for them than to be joyful and to ^(B)do good as long as they live; ¹³ also ^(C)that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is ^(D)God's gift to man.
