¹³ Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”

¹⁴ After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid^(A) of them. Remember^(B) the Lord, who is great and awesome,^(C) and fight^(D) for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

¹² Be strong,^(A) and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”^(B)

¹³ Be on your guard; stand firm^(A) in the faith; be courageous; be strong.^(B)

⁴ Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.”

¹⁰ But the king said, “What does this have to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah?^(A) If he is cursing because the Lord said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why do you do this?’”^(B)

¹¹ David then said to Abishai and all his officials, “My son,^(C) my own flesh and blood, is trying to kill me. How much more, then, this Benjamite! Leave him alone; let him curse, for the Lord has told him to.^(D)

²⁵ Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous.^(A) This is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.”

²² In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.^(A)

²⁶ But if he says, ‘I am not pleased with you,’ then I am ready; let him do to me whatever seems good to him.^(A)”
