Наставления към съпрузите
3 (A)Също така и вие, жени, покорявайте се на мъжете си, така че даже ако някои от тях не се покоряват на словото, да бъдат спечелени без словото чрез поведението на жените си,
2 (B)като видят вашето поведение в страх и чистота.
3 (C)Вашето украшение да не е външно, т. е. плетене на косата, кичене със злато или обличане със скъпи дрехи,
4 (D)а скритият в сърцето живот[a], с нетленното украшение на кротък и тих дух, което е скъпоценно пред Бога.
5 Защото така някога и святите жени, които се надяваха на Бога, украсяваха себе си, като се покоряваха на мъжете си,
6 (E)както Сара се покоряваше на Авраам и го наричаше господар. И вие сте нейни дъщери, ако правите добро и не се боите от никакво заплашване.
7 (F)Също и вие, мъже, живейте благоразумно с жените си като с по-слаб съсъд и им отдавайте почит като на сънаследници на дадения чрез благодат живот, за да не бъдат възпрепятствани молитвите ви.
Страданието заради правда
8 (G)А най-после, бъдете всички едномислени, съчувствителни, братолюбиви, милостиви, смиреномъдри.
9 (H)Не връщайте зло за зло или хула за хула, а, напротив, благославяйте; понеже към това бяхте призовани, за да наследите благословение.
10 (I)Защото:
„Който желае да обича живота
и да види добри дни,
нека пази езика си от зло
и устните си от лъжливо говорене;
11 (J)нека се отклонява от зло и да върши добро;
нека търси мир и да се стреми към него.
12 (K)Защото очите на Господа са върху праведните
и ушите Му – към тяхната молитва;
но лицето на Господа е против онези, които вършат зло.“
13 (L)И кой ще ви стори зло, ако сте ревностни за доброто?
14 (M)Но даже ако пострадате за правдата, блажени сте; а „от тяхното заплашване не се бойте, нито се смущавайте“.
15 (N)А почитайте със сърцата си Христос като Господ, като бъдете винаги готови да отговаряте (но с кротост и страхопочитание) на всеки, който ви пита за вашата надежда.
16 (O)Имайте чиста съвест, така че във всичко, в което ви одумват, да се посрамят онези, които клеветят добрия ви живот в Христос.
17 (P)Защото е по-добре да страдате, като вършите добро, ако такава е Божията воля, а не като вършите зло.
18 (Q)Защото и Христос един път пострада за греховете, Праведният за неправедните, за да ни приведе при Бога, като беше умъртвен по плът, но оживотворен по Дух;
19 (R)чрез Когото отиде да проповядва на духовете в тъмницата,
20 (S)които едно време бяха непокорни, когато Божието дълготърпение ги чакаше в дните на Ной, докато се правеше ковчегът, в който малцина, т. е. осем души, се избавиха чрез вода.
21 (T)Тя в образа на кръщението и сега ви спасява (не измиването на плътската нечистота, а настоятелната молба към Бога на една чиста съвест) чрез възкресението на Исус Христос,
22 (U)Който е отдясно на Бога, като се е възнесъл на небето, и на Когото се покориха ангели, власти и сили.

Deberes conyugales
3 Así mismo, esposas, sométanse a sus esposos de modo que, si algunos de ellos no creen en la palabra, puedan ser ganados más por el comportamiento de ustedes que por sus palabras, 2 al observar su conducta pura y respetuosa. 3 Que la belleza de ustedes no sea la externa, que consiste en adornos tales como peinados ostentosos, joyas de oro y vestidos lujosos. 4 Más bien, que la belleza de ustedes sea la incorruptible, la que procede de lo íntimo del corazón y consiste en un espíritu humilde y apacible. Esta sí que tiene mucho valor delante de Dios. 5 Así se adornaban en tiempos antiguos las santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, cada una mostrando respeto a su esposo. 6 Tal es el caso de Sara, que obedecía a Abraham y lo llamaba su señor. Ustedes son hijas de ella si hacen el bien y viven sin ningún temor.
7 De igual manera, ustedes esposos, sean comprensivos en su vida conyugal, cada uno trate a su esposa con respeto, ya que como mujer es más delicada[a] y ambos son herederos del grato don de la vida. Así nada estorbará las oraciones de ustedes.
Sufriendo por hacer el bien
8 En fin, vivan en armonía los unos con los otros; compartan penas y alegrías, practiquen el amor fraternal, sean compasivos y humildes. 9 No devuelvan mal por mal ni insulto por insulto; más bien, bendigan, porque para esto fueron llamados, para heredar una bendición. 10 En efecto,
«el que quiera amar la vida
y gozar de días felices,
que refrene su lengua de hablar el mal
y sus labios de proferir engaños;
11 que se aparte del mal y haga el bien;
que busque la paz y la siga.
12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos,
y sus oídos, atentos a sus oraciones;
pero el rostro del Señor está contra los que hacen el mal».[b]
13 Y a ustedes, ¿quién les va a hacer daño si se esfuerzan por hacer el bien? 14 ¡Dichosos si sufren por causa de la justicia! «No teman lo que ellos temen[c] ni se dejen asustar».[d] 15 Más bien, honren en su corazón a Cristo como Señor. Estén siempre preparados para responder a todo el que pida razón de la esperanza que hay en ustedes. Pero háganlo con gentileza y respeto, 16 manteniendo la conciencia limpia, para que los que hablan mal de la buena conducta de ustedes en Cristo se avergüencen de sus calumnias. 17 Si es la voluntad de Dios, es preferible sufrir por hacer el bien que por hacer el mal.
18 Porque Cristo murió por los pecados una vez por todas, el justo por los injustos, a fin de llevarlos a ustedes a Dios. Él sufrió la muerte en su cuerpo, pero el Espíritu hizo que volviera a la vida. 19 Y de ese modo fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados, 20 que en los tiempos antiguos, en los días de Noé, desobedecieron, cuando Dios esperaba con paciencia mientras se construía el arca. En ella solo pocas personas, ocho en total, se salvaron mediante el agua, 21 la cual simboliza el bautismo que ahora los salva también a ustedes. El bautismo no consiste en la limpieza del cuerpo, sino en el compromiso de tener una buena conciencia delante de Dios. Esta salvación es posible por la resurrección de Jesucristo, 22 quien subió al cielo y tomó su lugar a la derecha de Dios y a quien están sometidos los ángeles, las autoridades y los poderes.

3 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
